    voltmeter/ammeter

Cant remember who made this drawing using my setup but this is how its wired. Pretty easy actually. I need a visual to understand most this stuff sometimes!

    100% Stainless Heating Element

I do think 4500w on 240v is way to much for a RIMS regardless of flow rate over the element. At least for my untested RIMS. Its a 1.5" TC tube but the ports are reduced to 1/2" to accommodate my QD's. I do have some 1.5" TC x 3/4" fittings I could switch out to if my flow rate gets bottled up at...

    Speakon-Like connector with NPT thread?

Solder some XLR fittings into your panel. A good, cheap alternative for your RTD probes. I actually like the Auber deluxe cables with QD's on each end. A little hard to position the pins but not bad enough for me to not use them. I also used all Neutrik Power Cons in my panel and wiring. I used...

    100% Stainless Heating Element

My control panel has three 240v circuits and one 120v circuit. A SS 240v 2500w element would be nice for my RIMS. I could rewire my RIMS circuit to 120v and run Bobby's 240v 5500w SS element but that would be pain. I also question if doing that what the performance would be like doing 20g batches.

    RIMS in control panel

I was initially considering doing this myself. By the time I added up cost to run a separate 20amp circuit along with a 30amp 240v circuit it made more sense running a 50amp 240v circuit and breaking off the 120v stuff inside my control box. I suppose if you already have a 20amp circuit nearby...

    Dual Meters wire question

Here is a quick pic. The main power in contactor is to the right of the breakers. Almost all the 120v stuff is coming of the hot bus which has its own 15 amp breaker. The other three contactors run the BK, RIMS, and HLT. So do you have a opinion where to put the current transformer from the pic...

    Dual Meters wire question

Hi, I picked up a dual voltage/amp meter with a current transformer. My panel uses din breakers and dual purpose contactors. Id like to read my total usage vs just a single element or only the 120v stuff. This is a 240v 50amp system with a RIMS. I'm trying to figure out where to put the...

German Alt with FG of 1.020????

1007 is one of my house yeasts. Its a heavy top cropper and loves to ferment cold, but the colder it is the longer the fermentation. Ive had to go many times 14 days in primary that cold and thats pitching a very large starter. You pulled the trigger to fast im afraid. I always suggest swirling...

    Dedicated Malt Smoker

Drug out our Dedicated Malt Smoker for the annual Impy Smoked Porter. Used Alderwood this go round.... We smoked another 20# of grain using my screen trays from the other smoker. This box will hold 3 trays. This thing put out tons of smoke. Again, the smoke generator was around 220* but the...

    Manifold?

Totally agree w/ this. Heres some pics of my bottom manifold. I use the feet up against the cooler wall for stability when opening and closing the valve. I also have my slots down, use no other types of strainer and i can mash thick w/ alot of flake or hi % of wheat and this thing doesnt blink...

Returning recirculated wort to the MLT - above or below surface?

I use a simple copper "H" pattern made from 1/2 copper tubing. Cheap and easy to build. The upper pipe goes thru the MT lid and is long enuff to be adjustable in height to meet whatever grain bed depth im using. I just push the connections together, no need for soldering... edit, you keep...

    cutting top for keggle, $#?&*@@!!!!

yup, same here. I can have a top cutoff using the $1.85 metal cutting wheel from HD. I can cut 2 lids off and maybe more w/ 1 wheel. Then a 7/8 hole in the bottom for a spigot in 15 min. and have a perfect circle for the lid.
