Why do i still have floating bubbles? Infection or continued fermentation?

That's an infection without a doubt. With an ipa it could be iffy letting it sour

Second Day of Fermentation - Airlock Issues

Your beer its not ruined in any capacity. Basically the fermentation was strong and the krausen got up into the airlock. If that happens worse it can cause a pressure buildup and literally blow the airlock out of the fermenter. The first thing I would suggest is using vodka or diluted star san...

    Texas hops, year 1

It could be over/underwatering but honestly the plants look pretty good as a whole. If they are flowering they will often start declining because their energies are being focused into flower production. I would remove some of the lower leaves to prevent any wilt problems but largely they don't...

    drip irrigation conundrum

1 GPH emitters are likely not all that overkill. We use 2 GPH ones on our grapes with little issue. I think your biggest culprit is the soil your hops are growing within. If its loose with a high sand/mineral content rather than something more composted/loam based it will cause water to filter...

Out of CO2, primed keg with propane

While I won't claim TexasAggies actions as being the smartest and best representing of Texas A&M, I think that Forbes, The Washington Post and several other sources would disagree with the above statement. I do understand why you might not know of those rankings though. They should include more...

Out of CO2, primed keg with propane

So at which McDonalds location are you employed?

    move hops?

Either way you will stress the plants. Burying them will cause problems with water acquisition and oxygen levels. Raising them will damage the roots themselves. Hops are tough tho!

    Whats Chewing these????????

Yep my hops plants have a few of those holy leaves. For caterpillars I use a product made by Safer that contains bt. I think it's called caterpillar killer. Spray the undersides of the leaves and it will keep them at bay. Completely non toxic too. For slugs and snails I use a bait called sluggo.

    Induction Cooktop

The only requirement for induction stoves is that the pot is magnetic. Stainless steel is not necessarily magnetic however. We have several pots that were stainless but would not register on our induction hot plate. I tried to brew on an induction hot plate one time which ended up taking about...

    Hops pruning question

Tipping a plant eliminates the hormone that restricts side shoot growth. You will probably see faster branching on the tipped ones.

Let's play identify the nutrient deficiency!

It doesnt look like a nutrient deficiency. Chlorosis is usually more uniform and will later lead to necrosis. Could be very early stage magnesium as stated. I was probably a bit short in my answer but chlorinated water, foliar fertilizer salts, soaps, pesticides etc can all lead to burn...

Having a party, want to offer a few, but not the whole keg!!

We just tend to assume that people will drink our beer if its around and as a result we generally only invite courteous guests. Most of them bring a snack or wine or throw parties themselves so it all comes out a wash in the end. In fact around swmbo and my birthday I typically brew 10 gal of...

Hops getting too much water or something else?

If you look at the margins of the leaves (the outside edge) you will notice a dark brown border between the lighter brown dead portion of the leaf and the green. That dark brown line is almost always a sign of overwatering/anoxia. I've also seen bines start to drop leaves at the bottom of the...

Let's play identify the nutrient deficiency!

Doesn't look like a deficiency at all. I would either say you have some sort of leaf sucking insect involved or they have been burned by water on the leaves due to watering mid day or something. My hops all have little bits of stuff like that and they seem to be happy so I wouldnt worry about it!

I found out what's eating my hop plants.

A product called Sluggo generally works pretty well. We have thousands of snails in my yard so I have to protect pretty much everything.

    What types of fertilizer work???

Nitrogen is for foliage growth which is important while they are getting taller and putting out new leaves. I use mainly fish and algae emulsion. You have to do it once every week or two but it works well. You might go to a higher Phosphorus and Potassium solution as the bracts start to form

First year Cascades have a yellow glow to them

Iron chlorosis is actually the more common deficiency in landscape plants. Hops tend to be susceptible to Mg and even Ca as well.

First year Cascades have a yellow glow to them

Its not a problem, just seems to be common right about now. Judging by your photos make sure they get some nitrogen as well as Mg. Not sure how fast they are growing but that will help. Keep in mind, the more irrigation they receive the faster you will deplete N. Natural rain replenishes it.

Hop leaves getting very full of holes

As I mentioned in another thread, lethality to humans aside, nicotine-based insecticides are notoriously deadly to all beneficial insects that will otherwise help your garden. Neonicotinoid insecticides are largely linked to colony collapse disorder in honeybees. If you kill ladybugs off with...
