    Adjusting for boil off/kettle size

This is exactly what I was going to say. Can't say enough about using a hose on the downstream side of the valve that goes below the kettle bottom. Mark

    Upright freezer

Here are my two cents worth. You should be able to get kegs into a chest freezer without problems. With a collar, you might get more. But with an upright freezer you Ned to be aware of where the cooling coils are. Many older upright freezers have the cooling coils in the non-adjustable shelves...

    used home brew kegs.

I bought some a fee years ago at Adventures in Homebrewing. They had some of the best orices around then. There are also a few vendors on the forum here that you could try. Check out the vendor Sponsors Showcase section to find more information on those dealers selling kegs.

    Economy kettle

I use Bar Keepers Friend. It works wonders on the boil kettle. You should be able to find it in the cleaning aisle of any grocery store. Mark

Do I relly need a primary fermenter?

I am also conditioning my beer in the keg like you are proposing. I can't remember exactly the amount of priming sugar I used in the keg, but it was close to 2 oz of priming sugar for the keg. I used beersmith to help me determine how much priming sugar to use. I have also read somewhere else...

Do I relly need a primary fermenter?

You have to put your wort into something for fermentation -- be it a keg, a bucket, or a carboy. This is your primary fermenter. You could even keep your wort in the boil kettle and pitch your yeast in that, but then your boil kettle would be your primary fermenter. I see no way around the...

    Blichmann Floor burner stand

I built a stand using unistrut and I mounted two blichmann floor burners in the stand. I used strut flat washers, bolts, and strut nuts to clamp the floor burners to the strut. It all worked rather well. Here is a link to my stand. I hope that this will give you some ideas on what you...

The uses for the sphere from the aanke keg??

Do you mean sphere -- as in a ball or orb -- or spear -- as in the dip tube in the sanke? Some people use the spear as the handle for a home made stainless steel mash paddle. Mark

    Perlick 525 tap covers?

Wheeled Platform for Keezer - Plywood or Frame?

My opinion is that a frame made out of 2x4 s will not only be cheaper but also have more structural integrity. It would also be easier to fix a 2x4 structure more visually appealing by adding an apron around the perimeter of the dolly. I hope that you may find this helpful. Mark

    Splitting co2

You should buy your manifold to accommodate the number of kegs that you plan on using. If only two kegs, then a two-stage manifold, etc. The diameter of the MFL fitting for the manifold is of little consequence. You could use 3/16, 1/4, or 5/16. Any will work well for the CO2. However...

Should I be concerned about using a rusty corny?

Yup! I would agree with the two posts above. Bar Keepers Friend should clean it right up AND help with the process of passivation for the stainless steel now rustless. Mark

1 gal kit - bottling volume low...

What size are the bottles that you are using? One gallon is 128 fluid ounces. Five 22 oz beer bottles will handle this volume with some left over. My point is that once you determine which bottles you will use, you can determine the volume of barley wine that will be bottled. This...
