Need help with extract to grain

Thanks for the input, I didn't realize amber and dark extracts were just 2 row and crystal. I thought it would be more complicated for some reason. I'll put it in my brew software and see where it takes me Cheers

    Small growler bottling

Go right ahead. The last batch I bottled, I did 4 growlers and 10 bombers, easiest bottling day ever! Sure beats filling 50 bottles

Another one - Is my beer ruined?? Or will time heal these batches

I just bottled two batches I made a couple months ago, and popped one from each batch open after a week. The beer from both batches tasted like alcohol, real hot alcohol. I used harvested yeast for both of the batches. I know the fermentation temps didn't get too high (didn't get above 67*), and...

What is your favorite DRY RUB??

I like to use this rub for pork and beef. I have yet to try the injection he has posted on the web page as well. If anyone has tried it, or a different version let me know the difference with and without it. I also like to use Montreal Chicken Seasoning for smoked poultry. This is a nice thread...

1 Gallon Mash in 5 Gallon Mash Tun

I just brewed a 3 gallon batch in a 5 gallon pot. I did it as a brew in a bag, with all the grains (I think 4.5 lbs) in a large grain bag. I mashed with 4.25 gallons of water and lost another gallon during the boil, leaving me with just about 3 gallons. I did it to use up some leftover hops I...

    Too many types of grain??

This beer is really good! The hops don't come out too much, but I think that's from the complexity of the malt bill. It came out between an amber and a brown (if that's possible), I can't really tell which category it would fall under by looking at it (SRM 19) It is a nicely balanced beer, that...

    Too many types of grain??

thanks for the feedback, I think I'll give it a go. I'll pass on the pale chocolate since I do have a pound of victory. Hopefully it's full bodied and full of hops and a great beer, I'll check back in a while and let you know (hopefully I remember :drunk:)

    BIAB Mash question

Can you just stir the wort to keep these proteins suspended, and avoid the scorching? Are there other issues that can arise from this?

    Too many types of grain??

I was looking for sweet, nutty, caramel flavors with maybe a hint of coffee from the roasted barley, since my question was about the grain bill I only posted that, but here's the rest of the recipe, if you're interested. It's an American Brown style on the upper end of the IBU's (I love hops). I...

    BIAB Mash question

I was wondering if anyone puts their grains in the mash water as they heat it up to hit the different stages of mashing (acid/protein rest), or does everyone just heat up the water to the mash temp and put the grains in. I've only done BIAB once, and I did the second method. I was just wondering...

    Too many types of grain??

I am trying to come up with my next brew. I am looking at my recipe, and there are a lot of grains. I'm trying to impart different flavors into the beer. I know there is a standard % scale of what you need to use, I can't find it anywhere, but I was wondering if there is a point where too many...

    BIAB and first hoping

I would assume it means your bittering hops, first addition of hops after your wort has started to boil and you start timing your boil. I could be wrong though. BIAB shouldn't create any different processes, it just allows you to mash and boil in the same container.

    First BIAB!

Wow I hadn't heard that conversion happens that quickly, I am interested in this. I will perform he iodine test next time I do a BIAB, I normally do it with my AG batches. I guess I just didn't think to do it with the new style of brewing.
