Does altitude effect required priming sugar?

Hear in calgary I sit somewhere around 4000ft and I would assume that the different pressure hear would have an effect on carbonation. Does anyone have any knowledge or experience with altitude effecting bottling conditions?

    Anyone tried to malt Quinoa

I had Quinoa for dinner tonight and after some research I learned that it's really easy to get it to start to germinated and in theory you should be able to germinate and then dry or toast it to brew into a "beer" for lack of a better word. Anyone heard or tried this?

    Finally i have success

My first batch of beer did not turn out at all so I am stoked that this one has turned out better then I had hoped for. After my extract infection I decided to go all out and just do a all grain, and it went poorly to be honest. There was a cold snap and I had to brew in -19C as the high!! It...

So we don't use rinse aid at all, and I was thinking I could use starsan in the dishwasher to sanitize my bottles. Has anyone else tired this?

    Really slow fermentation start

So I brewed a batch on Friday night using 21L/5.5 gal of pasteurized, unfiltered, no additive pure apple juice from superstore. Since I have never had much faith in that organization and because I wanted to concentrate the juice a little, as well as get my spices going I boiled it for 45 min...

Is -15C to cold to do a allgrain outside

I don't mind doing my brew outside at -15, I do snow removal and have to work in much colder then that. But my father in law who is to lend me his turkey deep frier thinks I will have temperature stability problems. Anyone have some advice or experience on cold temp brewing??

    Hybrid JAOM questions

So I mostly followed Joe's recipe with a few minor modifications, one being I used Nottingham yeast and spices more to my taste. Also I used mandarin oranges. Not sure off hand all the numbers but at final calculation it came out to 10.6% ABV, and smooth to boot. It sat in primary for 2 1/2...

    23L of Malt vinegar

Yes that's right, my first brew is officially on its way to being a very nice malt vinegar, I figure I need about a tonne of fries and pound of salt, and I am set. :(

    Final Gravity

I could have sworn I saw something to calculate the FG of my brew but for the life of me I can't find where I read it. Is there a strait forward way of calculating the FG and final alcohol content of your brew?

First taste after 1 week and I am scared

Well it took me all day to get the courage to go and open the bucket, get a sample, test the gravity and taste it. the gravity is at 1.010 (note I have yet to calibrate the hydrometer, however because I checked the SG with it I will continue) SG of 1.030 smells like beer, a little...

    Second brew, taking suggestions

So seeing as my first brew only loosely falls under the category of beer (depending on who you ask), I was thinking perhaps this time I would get some experienced input on a good recipe for my second. I would like to make something fairly simple, and for now want to stick with extracts. My...

Whats best, priming before or in the bottle?

I am starting to plan for my first bottling session and had a few questions I read on how to brew to put the priming sugar into a second bucket, and add the beer to that an then bottle it, as apposed to putting the sugar in each bottle. Whats best, and why?

Anyone know a good place to get supplies in Calgary?

So far I have not had a lot of luck tracking down a store to get supplies. Some wine making stores have a little, but the selection is quite limited. Anyone hail from here or have any suggestions. I would rather not order online, as I like to see the people I do business with if possible. Kinda...
