    The first capper I had was one of the ones that come with the kits and I did the same thing. Broke bottles.

    I think it may be time for a new capper or some repair. It looks like they crimped on though. At this point all you can do is pop one open in a couple weeks and find out.

    Many people add oxygen to the primary to help fermentation. I doubt it oxidized. How were your dryhops stored. Did you vacuum seal them? My guess is you threw some freezer burned hops in your brew.

    the euipment I started with on my first batch was 3gal pot, a spoon, hop sacks, 5gal bucket with the lid for an airlock, and an air lock. I made a canadian beer from a kit at my LHBS. It wasnt the best beer I ever had but it was drinkable. I just had alot of fun doing it.

    Well if you have a setup to keg already thats great. Wont much make a difference in the brew phase. I would recomend starting out small try a kit with some directions or an extract. Work your way to partial mash all stuff you can do on a stove top with basic euipment. Make sure you like...

    I agree with the start small for 2 reasons. One before you put you tax return into it make sure you like doing it.     give it some time. couple factors. 1 heavier than the other so it will take a couple minutes(weeks maybe) more to carb. temp is also a factor. but if it has some bubbly in it than you should be fine just give it a while. different yeast too? I made a 9.5% about 5 weeks ago and its still...

    im mainly curious i guess about a jar that small, do you wash the yeast cold crash it then decant and transfer to smaller jars or just wash it direct into the smaller jars
