    Keg foam

My Sanyo setup never worked well with 5' of line, even though other posters are having success. I swapped out for a couple of 8' lines and it's much better now.

    No gas - AGAIN!

One of my C02 disconnects leaks when it's not connected to a keg. Took me a while to figure that out.

    Should I buy a co2 tank?

If you are close to Long Island I can get you a possibly free 10 or 20lb tank. May even be partially full and include regulator. PM for details.

    Beers on a Plane!

Here is another question to add to this thread... is it okay to bring empty co2 tanks on a plane? The bottle will be empty, with the regulator removed, and the valve fully opened. This will be in my checked baggage. I am doing this because they are free where I am flying to and I have 5, 10...

    Kegerator Conversion Cost

Fridge is $209 here. A standard two-keg tower kit is $320. Add in shipping, tax, a $10 co2 fill, and a few bits from the hardware store and you're probably talking close to $600 total.

    Pumpkin

I used one of the big cans and one of the small cans of pumpkin solids in mine, roasting them in the oven for an hour at 350 first. When racking to the secondary I took a taste, and me and the girl agree that I should have used more pumpkin. I got the other spices just right, though. Next time...

    What is a good thermometer?

I also use one of the yellow VWR ones. Once I wasn't sure my thermometer was right about my mash temp, so I threw in another thermometer. It was the exact same model of candy thermometer from Wal-Mart. Both varied by about six degrees. So I threw in my digital meat thermometer, and another...

    Cheap Food Grade Buckets!

Find any company that makes food products and they've probably got a ton. My company dumps/recycles 100's of these a week, mostly 5 and 6 gallon buckets. We fill 18 wheelers full with pallets of the used buckets. We get our eggs, fruits, and various other items in the buckets. Some are...

AHB Clone - Anchor Steam's Liberty Ale opinions.

I did a california common clone from AHS, drank the first two last night, came out real nice. Good blend of maltiness with a moderately bitter bite.

Good deals on stainless stock pots

I have the 53qt version, I've done one 5 gallon brew and even used it to make king crab legs since it comes with a steamer bottom. It's a far superior pot to the other 20qt stainless one I used before, much more sturdy. I can take a picture if you like.

    Belgian Wit too dark?

When you check your final gravity, that will be a better indication of the color. It's always darker in the fermenter. How big of a boil did you do, and did you stir it constantly? Although extract always tends to end up darker than all-grain, it gets even darker if it caramelizes/burns in...

    Deep South USA Brewing help.

I don't know much about this topic, but the "extruded expanded polystyrene foam board" you mentioned sure does sound a lot like the foam insulation sheets they sell at Home Depot or Lowes. Comes in several sizes, densities, and thicknesses. Usually pretty cheap.

    help with fermentation

What recipe? What yeast? What is your target gravity? Did you adjust your gravity readings for temperature?

Good deals on stainless stock pots

I'm not sure what heavy duty means exactly, but it's a solid unit. It didn't come with any information regarding thickness of the steel, just that it's 18/10. I can say that it's significantly more solid than the 20 quart ss pot it is replacing. I could push the side of that one in and it would...

Good deals on stainless stock pots

I just got my 35 quart stainless stock pot from this place, it's just as described. They have larger and smaller sizes as well. My 35 was $60 plus about $10 shipping. I'm in no way related to this company, just thought I would pass this on to other brewers that want stainless steel on an...

    Thermometer questions

I saw a digital probe thermometer at Wal-Mart the other day, I it was $14, and the packaging said something about "New! Silicone somethingorother" I'm pretty sure the probe wire was coated in red silicone.

I follow the pictures on the back and it works 100%, although sometimes too well.

    iodine vs Iodophor

We have tons of this Zep brand Zep-I-Dine at work. I always wondered if I could use it in place of iodophor. It says it contains "iodophor" and is safe for hospitals, restaurants, and dairies, which leads me to think that it is safe for brewing on the cheap...
