My experience has been that it works best to orient the pump head so that the inlet to the pump is pointing down towards the floor. Not sure if that helps in your setup or not.
If it is RO water I think it is safe to assume that it has zero minerals in it. At least that is what i do. So you can use water calculators like bru'n water, EZ water and the like.
Compare the results from other pitch rate calculators. Mr. Malty also assumes that your smack pack will have much lower viability over time. Woodland Brews has shown that properly refrigerated smack packs lose very little viability.

I recently left starsan in my lines for a couple weeks and had a problem. The lines clouded up and when I pushed a dip tube brush through them, gelatinous goo came out. I guess my mix was too strong and it ate away the inside of the tubing.

I don't understand this. Can someone please explain. Does a beer have to score higher than 34 to be eligible for a gold metal? I understand that a beer must score at least a 30 in order to receive a metal and move on but was not aware that there are further restrictions. Thx
