    Brewery Wants My Twitter Handle

So you decided to use a company's name as your online handle, and now everyone is acting like this is some sort of winning lottery ticket to cash in? The name has only one common usage, as reference to that business. It seems decent of them that they're asking politely rather than just...

PLEASE let the Northern Brewer buy-out be a hoax!

So a random guy says his random unnamed buddy told him that a homebrew company was bought out, and that is credible and solid enough information for 11 pages of fretting and speculation and "good, I never liked 'em anyways!" Yikes.

    Heretic Brewing Co.

I had some Tafelbully at Blue Palms in Hollywood, CA. It was an interesting beer, a funky Belgian take on a session brew. Definitely one of a kind.

Can homebrew ever equal microbrew quality ?

7 out of 8 party goers chose my Guinness clone over Guinness in a blind taste test! ;) To me, that question is like asking "Can a local band ever be as good as a major nationwide band?" and the answer is of course. The big guys have more money and tools at their disposal but you can do awesome...

How fast do you consume 5 gallons of home brew?

This pretty much sums me up. I keep 4 beers on tap, usually takes a month or two per beer, although if I have a party my IPAs tend to go in an evening :drunk:

    Rogue Double Dead Guy Clone

I did actually, but it tasted nothing like what I was going for. It did make a good IPA, though. :) Just doesn't taste much like the original.

Ever feel uncomfortable besting your favorite beer with your homebrew?

IMO, Franziskaner is by far the king of Hefeweizens. If I could top that beer, I'd feel pretty damned pleased with myself! On St Paddy's day, I did blind tasters with my Guinness clone vs. the real thing, and 7 people chose mine out of 8! It was an awesome feeling! Edit: Oh, and one of the...

    Dogfish Head Reduces Distribution

So to be clear, the "True fans" are the ones who throw a fit at limited distribution and swear off a beer, and the people happily buying and enjoying the beer aren't "real" customers? If the "real" customer is someone who's going to throw a fit over minor stuff and swear off my products...

2 Mugs up if you love Ranger (IPA)

It's not bad if I'm at the grocery store or something, not one of my go-tos if I have options though

    Easiest Yeast Starter!

For giggles I took the last runnings on my last brew on threw the dregs of a Rogue bottle in there. A week later, I had a nice layer of Pacman! Woot! The way I sparge I tend to have extra liquid left over, so I'll be taking to this method a bit more often since it's easy and efficient.

In your face IPA lovers - Hoppotamus maximus

I got what they're going for but it sounds kind of defensive coming from a brewer like GB. It's one thing to poke fun at yourself, but it's a chain that makes German style lagers and hefe's griping about IPAs and barrel aged beers. Also they kept the joke going too long ;)

Big breweries using small names to conceal themselves?

You know, I haven't really seen the big guys make any serious attempts at the craft market anyhow. There's all this talk of them "gobbling up small brewers" or making their own crappy craft beer....but where? Where's the AB IPA under some other label? There's stuff like Blue Moon and the random...

    Favorite RIS

Problem with those is they don't make it far out of San Diego! Both great beers though. Best IRS's I've had: Stone Imperial Russian Surly Darkness I haven't ticked off a lot of the "rare" guys like Black Tuesday or Dark Lord, although I did have The Abyss (which got a MEH from...

    Kegging Question

all you have to do is pop the lid and yank it out, might get some beer on you (or some you in the beer) but you gotta do what you gotta do, right?

Does anyone love or despise Anchor Steam?

I've had it on draft and I'm not too far from the source. I've always found it to be mediocre. I'll be visiting the brewery in 2 weeks so I'll keep you guys posted if it changes my life fresh from the source.

Dale's Pale Ale: APA or AIPA?

The line is really blurry. Dale's tastes like a good pale to me, it doesn't taste like a big IPA. What about the 5%ABV 65IBU "Pale" I just brewed? Is it a pale ale or an IPA? Stuff like this is why I hesitate to ever compete in style guideline comps

Big breweries using small names to conceal themselves?

Gonna add a +1 to this, based on the last time Revvy talked about this I checked the book out at my local library, and it was incredibly interesting. If you want to find someone to blame for the "fizzy yellow beer" that took over the market, blame the American beer buyer of 50 years ago who...

    Disaster Brewing Night

On the bright side, you won't have to worry about thermometers since you broke them all this time. ;)

    Brewing with Insects?!?!
