So, one of my favorite beers is Rogue Double Dead Guy. What I don't like is paying $10/bottle for beer. I was thinking of plotting this out as an early project when I go AG. I searched for some threads, but everything is like a year old and nobody ever replied anyhow.

They have these specs on their website:

7 Ingredients:
Malts: 2-Row, Munich and C15.
Hops: Cascade.
Yeast & Water: Rogue's Pacman Yeast and Free Range Coastal Water.

Specs:
20º PLATO
60 IBU
78 AA
25º Lovibond

It seems like to hit that color you're using a ton of Munich Malt, like 70-80%. I'm not that familiar with Munich (coming from extracts), is this a bad thing? Does that color seem a bit dark for a beer that looks like this: http://www.socalbeerhound.com/2010/03/rogue-double-dead-guy-ale-2008.html

Anyone have any thoughts? At the very least on how I could shoot for that SRM using those ingredients?

Huh I unknowingly made something similar to this.

Not a clone of DDG at all but you may really like it since you like DDG.

10 gal batch.
19 lbs. Pale ale malt
5 Lbs. 40-50L Crystal

Nugget hops added as:
1.5 oz 60 min
1.5 oz 30 min
2 oz 2 min.

I did actually, but it tasted nothing like what I was going for. It did make a good IPA, though. :) Just doesn't taste much like the original.
