    Honey gone hard

Hey Cat! I'm afraid your honey is ruined. You can dispose of it by dropping it off on my deck whenever is most convenient for you. I'll take it from there. ;)

    wort near boil while sparging

Funny.... I was just dealing with this last weekend. I usually fly sparge but decided to try a batch this time just to compare. (10 gal batch) As soon as I have a couple gallons of the first sparge, I put the boots to the banjo. By the time I get the 1st strike water into the grain and...

    So who's brewing this weekend?

No brewing... but racking Apricot Wit and the NorWa meet is Sunday 1pm in Mt. Vernon where we will be formulating plans for this year's "Beerstock 5060" :rockin: and sampling lots of brews :mug:

Reprecussions of slightly out of band temps?

Each yeast pack will list a recommended temp range. Keep in mind, that is the wort temp which will be higher than room temp once the yeasties are going full blast. Colder temps will slow fermentation, but give 'cleaner' tastes and aromas. Too cold and the yeast goes nighty-nite. Warmer...

Ward Water Report - Few Questions

That does look like a pretty good water report. I would not sweat the Fe. It's REALLY low. You're talking about 150 parts per billion.

    So who's brewing this weekend?

Looks like we are on schedule for 10 gallons of Belgian Wit, half left alone and half transformed into an Apricot Wit. :)

    Commercial suggestions (and recipies)

I would think BierMuncher's SWMBO Slayer - Belgian Blonde would be automatic appreciation. Tastes do change. I quit brewing for years many moons ago because as much as I liked making beer, I never found a beer that I really liked. Not just my own brews. ANY beer. and then I got old. and my...

    I have a problem

Yeah, I'd let it ride for a while more. You could have some minor leaks but once the yeasties get into high gear, you might see airlock movement.... but you may not still if the leak is big enough. THAT'S not necessarily a prob tho! Remember that some breweries ferment 'open'! No seal of...

Help me before I break my malt mill

First if possible I would try to get the side plates as close to the ends of the rollers as possible so that the o-rings have no where to escape to. (can't jump off the ends) second is on the later ones like mine, the opening of the hopper is quite narrow. I always wondered why since the...

    5 Years to age?

With this kind of commitment (and an awesome plan btw) I would do a number of different things. Don't put your eggs all in one basket, so to speak. I did a simple mead long ago that perked along very slowly for 2 years, still bottled a bit early and about 5 years later had THE MOST AWESOME...

    Starter size doesn't matter

I kinda figured it was just a simple typo. Everything else fits.
