    Saving a flop

When I first started homebrewing I took a lot of shortcuts. I ended up with some syrupy brews, meaning that I used too much LME for a 5 gallons batch and the yeast died from alcohol level tolerance before it coul digest all the LME. The beer was drinkable but really tasted a lot like the LME...

ADVICE: 25' beer lines, basement to bar on 1st floor

One of my homebrew pals is considering relocating his kegerator to the basement and running about 25 foot lines up to his bar on the first floor. I've got a feeling that cold beer going thru 25 feet of warm lines might not be the best idea. Have any of you tried it? How'd you make out? Any...

HELP: 10' 3/16 line and 3" of foam

OK, so I installed the new 3/16 lines at 10' long and have 10psi on the kegs and get 3 inches of foam. My kegerator is a chest freezer set at 42°F. The thermocouple is at mid height within the 4 kegs. The beer is great but I am still trying to get down to 1/2 - 3/4 inches of foam...

    Different kind of tap

I am going to be adding a 5th tap to my kegerator. Flowing from it will be Rum Swizzles to keep the wife happy. I'd like to use a different looking tap for it. The other 4 are Perlick 425s over a 19" stainless drip tray. There is no room for another tap in this location so it will be on it's...

    CO2 & Temps below 40°F

My kegerator resides in the unheated breezeway between the house & Garrage. This week it is seeing temps in the 20's. The digital controller says it's 34°F in there. With the CO2 pressure unchanged, I notice that the beer coming out seems to be lower in carbonation when the temp goes below 35...

    Line cleaning option question

Has anybody tried to make an adapter for the pressure hose of a garden sprayer that a beer-out ball-lock female connector will snap onto for the purpose of line cleaning? :mug:

    Finding that CO2 leak

I've got a CO2 leak in my new keezer. Couple questions for you guys. What is the best liquid solution to find the leak. I'm hoping that when I'm done everything won't be covered in a soapy residue. What do you guys use? Eisendrath

Heads up, sure way to explode a bottle

Was visiting a friend and somehow emptied a 22oz flip top. :tank: I wanted to keep it wet inside for easier cleaning when I got home so I filled it with cold water and closed the top. First time it exploded I didn't think about it enuff..... 2nd time, I have this advice to offer...

Effect of temp on foam head at constant psi

My new keezer, fashioned after Quaffers (thanks buddy) sits in a breezeway between my house and garrage. I have it set at 42°F. This room is unheated and resides below freezing all winter. Right now the Dwyer controller says the beer I just poured is 31.4°. Besides the flavor loss, I think...

    New hose cause foam???

Just plumbed up my new keezer. 9 foot of beer hose, 12 psi. First pour on all 4 taps came out mostly foam. Good thing I had a pitcher. Settled and tasted just fine. Hoses were still filled with foam at end of pour. 1/2 hr later hoses are 1/2 air & 1/2 beer. Didn't see this with first...

Perlick 425 SS - vs - Two cats

Got two cats that like to scratch their faces on things. Got two tap handles on my old kegerator. Saw dammed cat rubbing dammed face on edge of nice handle. Pictured 10 gallons of great homebrew on floor...... Connected two small bungie cords between tower and handles. It...

    Adjusting Perlick Faucets

I just bought and installed two Perlick 525ss faucets on my kegorator. Are they adjustible? they do pour just fine but I really have to push the handle quite a bit to make them stop dripping. The e-bay auction indicated they were "faucets are used but have been cleaned and rebuilt (o rings)"...
