    Shipping Bottles?

I told UPS it was homemade root beer. They didn't seem to care.

    Shipping Bottles?

I've used UPS. I took a Sam Adams 12 pack, filled it with bottles, and packed newspaper in between so the bottles wouldn't clank together. I then taped that up and tossed it in a box full of the popcorn. Arrived safe and sound.

    12% brew not carbing

I dont think temp is a problem but I guess it could be a factor. I have them stored at 68-70. I have brewed about 12 other batches that have carbed fine at this temp. I will have a read through the other post but I really dont have any desire to try to carb the bottles at this point. I was...

    12% brew not carbing

Hey all, My last batch was a Sam Adams Old Ale clone. It came out just under 12%. It's been bottled for about 2 months now and it's still not carbed. I have tried bottles randomly so I don't think it was my priming sugar mix. I think at this point the alcohol level might have killed off the...

    Norther Brewer All Grain Kit

I bought that kit. Some think they are over priced and you can build them cheaper. I wasn't interested in building or fabricating a kit. I consider the price of the kit as part of the cost of homebrewing. I couldnt be happier and would recommend it.

    Great sanitation idea

I rinse my bottles after pouring them and let them sit by the sink overnight. I shake the few drops left out in the morning and store them in a box until bottle day. Then I just run them throught he dishwasher on normal wash without detergent that morning. I know the bottles are too hot to touch...

I learned a valuable lesson yesterday

When your dial thermometer falls into your cooler filled with 170 degree water dont reach in with your hand and attempt to retrieve it. My hand was in past the wrist before I was reminded why not to do this. My dial thermometer, the ones with the long stem, now has condensation on the...

    Thermometer for round cooler

Hey all, Does anyone have a suggestions for a themometer that would work with my 10 gallon round rubbermaid cooler? I would like to drill a hole and mount it right in the side of the cooler. I've seen the weldless ones but wanst sure if they would work on a plastic cooler. I dont want to have...

    No Fermentation

Hey all, I'm on my 7th batch and decided to try liquid yeast for the first time. I brewed a Honey Weizen from Midwest. This is also my first batch with Honey. I upgraded to the White Labs Hefeweizen Ale 300 liquid yeast. I did not prepare a starter just left it out of the fridge for a few...

Where to find Celis White in WI

Does anyone know where to find Celis White in Northeast Wisconsin? I figured since it was made in Michigan it would be easy to find here but I haven't found it yet. I moved to Green Bay a few months ago and there doesn't seem to be very many liquor stores here. I'm a huge fan of Belgian...

    Beer tastes like malt

Hey everyone, Sorry I havent posted in a while. I took a few tastes last week and it was the same. I tried one tonight and that taste I was questioning has subsided and it actually tastes pretty good. I guess with me being new to this hobby I was unfamiliar with the taste of "green" beer...

    Fridge, wire shelf

Thanks for the reply. Sounds like a good idea my only concern is the air circulation in the fridge. I guess I could cut a bunch of smaller holes with a hole saw. I'll give it a try this weekend.

    Fridge, wire shelf

Hey all, I just bought a new fridge specifically for beer. Not fermenting, just to keep my bottles cold. I found a nice one at sears, freezerless and all the shelves are space well enough that bottles will stand up on all of them. The only downside is all the shelves are the wire grate type...
