    Canada Crankenstein 2A mill

Selling my crankenstein mill with no base. Done about 12 brews on it, works flawlessy and very strong. No rust, the brown spots on the rolls are simply crushed barley dust that I can't get rid of ! Paid 100$ US, asking 50$ ! Thanks !

Canada CHugger pump with camlocks fittings

Hello, leaving the hobby so I'm selling my chugger ss pump with or without the camlocks fittings. I paid 225$ US for the pump and fittings, excluding shipping. 80$ for the pump or 120$ for the pump and fittings. I used the pump for about a year, which is roughly 10 brewing sessions. Pump and...

    co2 out of solution

Hello, this is the first time I have problems with my draught system. My ipa comes out in foam, the beer lines are full of bubbles. At first, I suspected a dirty beer line so I cleaned it with a commercial beer line cleaner for a couple of hours. I still have bubbles in my line. I haven't...

    Bru'n water help

Ok so I've been using bru'n water for a while now but this is my second time using it with 100% RO water. I'm brewing an ipa tomorrow so I was calculating how much CaCl2/CaSo4 to add with the program but I have a problem. Without adding any baking soda, my mash ph was 5.1, a bit too low so I...

    100% RO water

I'm now using RO water from my local brew shop and was wondering if I should treat the water with campden to remove chloramine ? I guess the filter won't remove those ? It might explain why my 1st brew using RO water tasted weird, I didn't think about chloramine

    Ph meter usefulness ?

Been brewing ag fo about 4 year now, using tap water, ward labs report and brun'water with salt additions. My beers have mostly been ok, nothing spectacular. I always suspected my mash ph was a problem as this was the last variable I still didn't control ( I use a thermapen for my mash temps...

    sparging water acidification

I'll be brewing a stout soon usung ro water. I'll add minerals using brun' water and was wondering if I need to acidify my sparge water ? In brun' water, it mentions that it is not necessary to add acids to the sparge water if using 100% ro water. In which cases adding an acid is a must ?

    beersmith volumes

I came up short on my last few brews regarding my post boil gravity and I'm recalibrating my sight glasses on my kettle and HLT to pin point the problem. When beersmith tells me that I need like 12 Liters of water for the mash at 154 F, is that supposed to be cold tap water ? Once heated, I...

    post boil gravity

I'm having a hard time nailing my post boil gravity using beersmith. Do you guys have any idea ? On my last few batches, the pre-boil gravity was always within 2 points of what beersmith predicted but for the post boil gravity, I often get 8 points lower than expected. I use an hydrometer that...

    Need your help about leak

Okay so I've emptied 2 co2 bottles in the last 4 months and today, I finally decided to check for leaks. Well so far, I found two leaks on the regulator. I eliminated one but the other is still leaking no matter how hard I tighten it. It's leaking right where the red hose ball valve (co2 line)...

    dual purpose mini fridge

I am on tight budget and space so I use my mini fridge as a kegerator and a fermentation chamber. I use an stc-1000 to control the fermentation. Now I realize that even though the room is at 70 F, the fridge needs some warmth to get to 68 since I pitch at 64. If I add a heater or fermwrap, how...

    Ward labs precision

Just wondering how precise are ward labs results on tap water ? 21$ for a houshold mineral test is damn cheap compared to other companies in Canada. I was quoted 150$ for a similar test here. Is ward labs really testing each minerals/ions individually ?

    02 aeration

Don't know if I'm in the right place but I'm trying to figure out what I need to aerate my wort with those oxygen red canisters. Obviously I'll need a regulator but what type do I need and can I screw it directly on the bottle without an adapter ? Lastly, where do you guys find those stainless...

    Malt conditioning issue

So i've been conditioning my malt for the last 3-4 brews in order to have a tight gap with my mill (around 0.028"). I've got no stucj sparge issues but if i vorlauf for 3 hours, it seems i can't get a clear wort like I used to have when i didn't condition my malt. Is it me or the whole husks...

    improving efficiency

I've done about 7 all grain brews so far using a manifold in my mash tun. Today was my 1st brew with a ss braid. I got 63 % for my mash efficiency as oppososed to like 75 % with the manifold. How can I improve this ? Here's what I did : Milled my grain, (maris otter and crystal that's it) Pour...

    mash tun design

So I've got a copper manifold in my mash tun and I'm having a few issues with it and I'm thinking about upgrading to a ss braided hose. For those of you using this, how much deadspace do you have ? I assume that as soon as the liquid level drops to the top of the braid, you lose the siphon right...
