Specialty IPA: Rye IPA Denny Conn's Wry Smile Rye IPA

I followed the recipe perfectly. Six weeks in the primary Including one week cold-crash. It’s a great tasting, clear, beautifully colored beer. Oh and it tastes great too!! Thanks Denny!

    problem with jaybird false bottom

I'm disapponted to see no replies to this thread. I had the same issue this weekend (hinged false bottom in keggle, pump on, low heat applied, stiring mash, grain under FB clogged my tube). I hope you figured it out. I'm guessing vigorous stiring caused mine....maybe I'll have to use spent...

OG well below target...can it be fixed?

Should I retire the keggle mash tun? How did I end up with 1-2lbs of grain under the false bottom (climax, hinged)? Strike water in, grain in, dough-in, check temp, good, let sit 10min, check temp, too low, turn on march pump and burner, stir vigorously. My suspicion is the stirring...

OG well below target...can it be fixed?

I was just researching session IPA (or perhaps pale). It looks like I'll have a very expensive, light body, 64 IBU, 4.7% pale ale? I appreciate the idea of having DME on hand to adjust. I just never thought it would happen to me.... Prepare for the worst, hope for the best as they say.

OG well below target...can it be fixed?

The cooler wasn't my problem, I've always reached my target OG using it in the past. I'd like to know if this will be an enjoyable 4.7% lawn mowing beer, or if I need to "save" it by adding fermentables now.

OG well below target...can it be fixed?

I fired up my single tier keggle system for the first time yesterday. I brewed a 5gal Celebration clone with 13lbs of grain. I had an issue with mash that has lead to low efficiency. I was having trouble maintaining mash temp in the 40deg day so I engaged the pump with inline temp probe...

    Whirlpool w/pump question

Ahha! I wasn't thinking about killn' germs. Thank you!

    Whirlpool w/pump question

I have my keggles complete on my new s/tier system. I'm going over the process in my head and one question I have is when to start/stop whirlpool. Starting the whirlpool (march pump, side pickup, side whirlpool fitting) when I add the immersion chiller seems appropriate. So, when my wort...

    BG14 low pressure conversion?

Let me digest that for a while.... Thanks for the responses gents!

    BG14 low pressure conversion?

"Venturi bell". Good word to know. ;-) Thanks for the pic. Still curious if the fitting also acts as a flame control?

    BG14 low pressure conversion?

Thanks for the reply kladue. Does the valve/orifice screw straight into the BG14 threads, or are you running some hose/pipe from the burner first? Bonus...does the valve on this act as flame control too? HURRICANE NATURAL GAS CONVERSION VALVE With 290 requlator you mention, I...

    BG14 low pressure conversion?

Hi guys, I have search overload...I'm a bit vapor locked...and could use some fine-tuned direction. I'm at the propane plumbing part of my brewstand build (15gal keggles) I have 2 BG14's (high-press) and one 6" (low-pressure) burners from Agri Supply. I have a 0-30 hi-pressure reg...

    Stuck build, brewstand.

HP orfice for the 6" burner? Excuse my ignorance, but where does it go and what thread size?

    Stuck build, brewstand.

I have a brewtus-style stand partially complete. I'm stuck on the propane and temperature parts of the build. My big dilema is not knowing about automation (auto flame control) and even if I did, would I want it? Right now I'm thinking about plumbing the 3 burners, light them manually as...

    My water profile (mg?)

Appreciate the info. Looking at Palmer's website, I see I cannot determine Mg/Ca with the known CaCO3 numbers. ;-( Bottom line....my beer tastes good! I suppose that all I need to know. ;-)

    My water profile (mg?)

I'm 50m north of Seattle. Our small community gets great-tasting water from the Tulalip Aquafer (untreated). I appreciate the comparison.:mug:
