    Oak spirals causing oxidation?

I recently racked (23 days ago) a big brown ale on top of an oak spiral which had been soaked in bourbon. I broke the spiral in half before adding it. Maybe a week later I noticed some bubbles forming around the floating spirals. It's obviously not still fermenting, I tasted it yesterday...

    Oak Spirals in a keg.

Can anyone weigh in on how well this works? I was thinking about adding a spiral of lightly toasted American white oak to a freshly kegged saison. The package suggests one spiral per 3 gallons... Any thoughts?

    Long term aging...in the fridge?

I brewed this https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f68/double-chocolate-oatmeal-snout-126638/ and bottled it 3 weeks ago. I have drank a few, they are well carbonated, maybe too much, but still taste somewhat green. I come home today and notice that my two 22 oz bombers had exploded, the rest of the...

    "First Wort Hopping"

Has anyone ever tried this for an extract recipe? I understand that the technique is to add some of your hops during the mash correct? If so, would this work if I was doing an all extract recipe with some steeping grains? Just toss an ounce or 2 in with my grains and steep away?

Help w/ Partial Mash IPA recipe

Alright, so the last time I tried to wing a recipe I screwed up. I did an IPA using 1/2 lb of Centennial hops in the boil but used nothing but 1 lb of CaraAmber as my grains. Just an extract recipe. It has been about 5 weeks in the bottle and is pretty much too sweet to drink. It attenuated...

What to do w/ underattenuated sweet beer?

Bottled a Centennial IPA in which I used 7 ounces of hops throughout the process. Started at about 1.063 an finished at around 1.020. It was somewhat sweet when I bottled it but not overly. I tasted one after a week of carbing, i know way to early, but it was damn sweet with decent...

Oatmeal Stout - 53 days old

I brewed the Oatmeal Stout kit from Midwest and bottled it on December 6th. They have been in the bottle 53 days which is about 7.5 weeks. They are carbed up nicely but there are some off flavors and aroma. It almost as if they still taste 'green'. Should I expect anything from these in the...
