    Baltimore MD????

Don't really need a tour. Just want to grab a pint or two with my kid in tow. In Asheville it's no big deal to bring a kid (or a dog) to a bar. Wondering if it's similar in Baltimore or am I going to breaking the moral code.

    Vinyl flavor from Calcium Chloride?

I really don't think CaCL is the issue. What is the source of your brewing water? If that came out the hose then I think that's your problem. If the hose water is just for cleaning then I think it's less likely but who knows. Could just be phenols from a wild yeast infection.

    Baltimore MD????

Hey, I'm visiting Baltimore. I'm looking to visit a brewery or 2. Are any breweries kid friendly? In my town (Asheville, NC) most all the breweries are cool for little kids. Wondering if Baltimore has a similar child in the brewery acceptance policy. Specifically looking at Union and...

yeah, I recirculate with a pump the entire time. I don't get any scorching currently but my false bottom is pretty tall and covers the entire bottom of the pot.

recomendations for 20 gallon stainless mash tun

seems like there might be a risk of scorching the grain when I fire the burner with that type of false bottom.

recomendations for 20 gallon stainless mash tun

Stout looks interesting but no sight glass and I wonder how the false bottom compares with blichmann. Stout is also unusually tall

recomendations for 20 gallon stainless mash tun

I'm currently mashing in a 15 gallon morebeer pot with a false bottom and it's a bit small. 20 gallons is really what I need. I recirculate during the mash and direct fire to maintain temps. my needs... 20 gallons stainless false bottom 1/2" drain valve thermometer some sort of sight...

    Cleaning a serving sanke - my .02

I'm a little late to the party here so excuse me for that but... I also ferment in sanke kegs and I clean them with a sump pump in a bucket. PBW solution at 180F for 30 minutes and it's done! Rinse with hot water. Easy! I got my sump pump from Harbour Freight for about 50.00

Help me understand my water report

Welcome to Asheville. I'd recommend checking out the local home brew club MALT. It's a fun group with many talented brewers. I'm on city water and had ward labs do an analysis a while back. Calcium and Mg are very low like <1 ppm Potassium and Iron were not in the report from ward...

First brew with new rig was a disaster!

I drilled out the orifice so it can be used with a low pressure (11"wc) regulator. BTW the regulator is about the same cost

First brew with new rig was a disaster!

I've built a Brutus style brew rig. Low pressure propane, honeywell standing pilot valves, PID controls, direct fired recirculated mash, etc... I did my first brew with the new rig on Sunday and everything was going great until I finished the sparge and tried to boil. The low pressure...

Can I use the flexible hose with a honeywell furnace valve?

I have a KAB6 burner like this I'm trying to automate this burner with a PID controller and a Honeywell furnace valve. I know I need to drill out the orifice at the burner to work with low pressure propane. My question is can I use the existing hose to connect the burner to the...

    Immersion Chiller questions

buy one or make your own. I'd recomend 50' or 1/2" copper. I'd also highly recomend some sort of whirlpool as well. I do my whirlpool with a pump but if you don't have a pump you can simply stir it with a spoon. The whirlpool greatly increases the cooling effectiveness of the immersion chiller.

    Quick disconnects vs snaplock/camlock

I have the cam locks. They work great. No leaks, and pretty easy to use. For the price they really can't be beat. I'm sure the more beer style disconnects are great but they are much more expensive. If you go with cam locks, check out the ones bobby m is selling on brewhardware.com His...

would this be suitable as a control pannel enclosure.

on further inspection the pids are 4" deep. I think I need a 6" deep box. I may just make my own out of plywood.

would this be suitable as a control pannel enclosure.

I'm not using a heat sink so no worries. I don't have any ssr's just the pid and a 24v transformer to control 2 furnace valves with standing pilot lights. At least I don't think I need an ssr or a heatsink.

would this be suitable as a control pannel enclosure.

I'm building a brutus style rims system. I need a box to use as a control panel. What do you think about this one? The price is right.
