Thanks BarleyWater. That's what I thought. I was thinking that I would decant off as much as possible too.

    Old DME in Starter

I just bought a stir plate and will be making starters from now on. I found a "brick" of old DME that is around a year old and a cup in size that can be used in a starter. I also have a fresh lb. of light DME. Since it's only $4.50 worth of investment I'm going to throw the brick out and go...

Cheap & Easy 10 Gallon Rubbermaid MLT Conversion

Go with the 10 gal. You can't go up if needed with 5 gal but 10 gal should be great for your setup. I like Rico567's idea of injecting insultation foam into the lid. I'm going to look into that. Thanks! I went with 5 gal originally. I then bought a 10 gal for MLT and now use the old 5 gal...

    Happy to be here

I've been reading posts for some time now. I am very impressed by the knowledge that you brewers provide. I've been home brewing on and off for 10 years. I've moved up to all-grain mashing for 5 gal. Only 1 to 2 batches a year but want to increase my output. Trying to improve my process so...
