    New BIAB False Bottoms

I have this false bottom for my 15g MegaPot. There is a small gap about 1" around the side which has no functional effect. The middle support post does not interfere with the ripple element. Consider me a happy customer; I'm very pleased with this false bottom.

TIFU Brewing accident burned ear and neck

What do you think we should name the beer? Hospitale 2nd Degree Blonde Ale Face Melter Blonde Ale

TIFU Brewing accident burned ear and neck

Lol, yes the beer is OK. Thank the beer gods for that. My buddy who bumped the hose and sprayed me with boiling wort was able to finish the brew day. I still want to kick him in the nuts tho-- is that wrong?

    Grain Storage Question

Check out Vittles Vaults pet food containers if you want airtight and tested food safe. Really, any HDPE bucket with gamma lid will do so long as it's not a colored bucket.

TIFU Brewing accident burned ear and neck

Writing this from the hospital so forgive my grammar. Started off as a typical brew day on my electric BIAB system. Today's plan was 12 gallons of Biermuncher's ever-popular Centennial Blonde. All was going well until my wife walked in the garage and asked for a photo of all the guys brewing...

Unboxing Colorado Brewing Systems new Single Vessel System

$150 is a pretty good deal for that cord. Having pulled a GFCI breaker from a Spa panel and wired it into my control panel, looking back I should've just bought a GFCI cord!

Unboxing Colorado Brewing Systems new Single Vessel System

Wildsee-- smart choice to buy pre-made electric system. On the topic of GFCI protection, the inline cord will cost between $150-300 with the benefit of being portable. Another option is to build GFCI protection into the control panel, but that's probably not doable buying pre-built. Check out...

    EBrewSupply Response Problems?

My experience in June last year was similar. Never did get a response to my eBIAB questions on the wiring diagram but I went ahead and ordered anyway. My order didn't ship until 3 weeks later and several follow-up emails. That was my experience alone. All said and done I'm happy I chose...

New Electric Setup - Stout Kettles and Hosehead

Nice setup! Start with simple (cheap) recipes and build up from those basic styles. It's best to learn the equipment first and work out the bugs. Unlike me, dropping $80 on a DIPA which was mashed too hot and didn't ferment out.

    Stainless 16" X 12" X 8" electrical box for $199!

Awesome deal! Buyer beware as it seems to be missing the backing plate although that would be easy to fabricate a replacement.

Do you still recommend a false bottom?

I recirculate while mashing on my eBIAB setup as well. Sounds like it's best to keep the false bottom and not risk scorching the bag!

Good experience with dry yeast. What are your tips?

This past Saturday I brewed an American Pale Ale for the first time on my eBIAB setup. We got carried away cleaning kegs during the mash so it ended up a 90 minute mash at 152f. Back to the yeast. Safale S-04 yeast. Rehydrated and pitched into 1.063 wort to ferment at 63f; in five days it's...

Do you still recommend a false bottom?

Follow up question to the OP's post: For an electric BIAB setup, is the false bottom necessary?

    Lifting a basket

I have an eye bolt above my kettle, which I run my BIAB rope through, and over to a mini winch on the wall. Here's a link to mini winch ProGrip 05334 2" Mini Winch https://www.amazon.com/dp/B007CVS2D2/?tag=skimlinks_replacement-20 I tried to put a hand winch on that wall but didn't work out...

Advice on Colorado Brewing's Single Vessel System

That's a really nice piece of kit at a great price, both the Colorado Brew and the Braumeister. I built my eBIAB and to be honest, knowing what I do now I would just buy it!

First Brew Day with the new eBIAB rig...

I recirculate mash in my eBIAB and have had zero issues with my beer or my process. I have a camlock fitting at the end of the hose which helps it to sit down in the wort.

    Co2 cylinder mount solution

Check out this nifty fire extinguisher mount I found to mount my co2 tank externally to my kegerator. The part is G2522073 from Zoro.com; I could not find it for less anywhere else. Also the QDs are from Morebeer and the manufacturer is Kent. I'm pretty happy with the setup as it allows me to...

    Project complete: eBIAB

The bag shape works fine for pulling out of mash, just have to be careful not to let it touch the sides of the brewpot or the wort will run down the side. I did tear the bag slightly as I had a 35lb grain bill and it caught on the kettle side port; now I put a spoon over that port so it doesn't...
