So who's brewing this 4th of July weekend and what?

I have two Northern Brewer kits I'm brewing during my week off next week: Irish Draught ale and Sinistral Warrior IPA. Looking forward to both.

Have you ever been stuck on one beer? (yes) Ok, which?

Chang lager. Had a sixer the other day and can't stop thinking about it. Getting some more tomorrow or the next day. Great summer beer.

    Sierra Nevada Summerfest Poll

I'll buck the trend and express my continuing love for this beer. Seems as though many posters who don't like it prefer the other SN offerings (Torpedo, Pale Ale, etc.), which are of course wonderful, but powerfully aromatic and bitter in their own right. Judging objectively, and...

Looking for HB club: Columbus, Ohio

I, too, live in "The Ville." I'm not normally much of a joiner, but if you find something that seems like it might be with your time let me know. My time is stretched pet thin, but I'm always on the lookout for ways to make my hobby more fun and tasty. Cheers!:mug:

My God, What Have I Made?

All: This is not a post generated by fear. Rather, I'm interested in your opinions regarding what I might have made by doing the following on brew day yesterday... I'd had a Belgian Strong Golden Ale (NB Kit) in the primary for a hair over four weeks that had a pretty good yeast cake of...

    Sanitizing Bottles

My Dad's sanitizing routine is to put the bottles in the dishwasher upside-down and wash them, then we put a bit of Star San in them, shake them, then put them back in the dishwasher, ready to fill. Works pretty well for me. No infections in over a year <knock wood>.

    "Extra" pale ale?

I brewed the Extra Pale Ale kit from Northern Brewer. The ingredients are all in the lighter part of the scale and the beer itself is very blonde in appearance, whereas with a typical Pale Ale you'd see some Crystal 60 or something similar to give it more of a coppery/golden color.

    3 batches of beer..... BOTTLED!

I, too, look forward to kegging in the not-too-distant future. Must be a nice sense of accomplishment to get so much done in on day, though. :rockin:

    Sam Adams New Beer

Since the new brew is going to be at least based on the Rheinheitsgebot, I imagine it will be something like a Belgian Blond, but the alcohol will come from specially-bred yeast that survive in higher alcohol environments. Just a guess. :mug:

    Winter Lager Recipe

Thank you, sir. That's in fact what I ended up doing. It's been in the bottles for three weeks now and I'm giving her more time to age. We'll actually "officially" open it just before my dad's birthday in late October. :tank:

What is the proper way to make a yeast starter.

You can check out this article in the homebrew wiki. It's what I used to get...um...started.
