They should make an air freshener that smells like fermenting wort

Seriously, does anybody else take a whiff in their fermentation chamber and enjoy the burning nose sensation and is like 'that's gonna be delicious' :D

    Quick force carbing question

Hi, finally got everything hooked up and burped the keg and made all the connections in my kegerator. but I was just thinking, is it better to keep the beer going out connector disconnected from the keg while force carbing or does it not matter?

    I’m joining the dark side

For a couple years I’ve been adamant about bottling, and I’m not sure if this is a natural progression of things, but one day I just said F it, bottling day is the one thing I hate. So, I just bought a couple kegs from my LHBS and another fridge :)

Probably my biggest **** up, what to do?

Accidentally added double the amount of sugar while bottling, what should I do? Check the bottles daily until the carbonation is right? Or put them in the fridge already and be safe drinking flat beer (but at least it’s beer) lol

Beverage cooler for standing bottles upright?

Recently I've been thinking of adding a mini fridge to store a stash of brews, but have a hard time finding info on ones that are good for storing upright bottles. Most of them say how much cans they fit, but I won't be storing anything but 12oz bottles (bombers can go in my regular fridge)...

How many beers in your stash?

Just curious, how many beers do you try to keep around, and when does it become "time to brew" to keep the pipeline going? Lol I try to keep a case to 40 around, time to brew usually hits me when I'm under 20 beers in the fridge, it's time to brew :) Though since i started upping my batch...

Do bottling buckets have to be replaced as often as plastic carboys?

I read somewhere that it's recommended to replace plastic carboys every 25-30 brews, but was wondering if the same applied to bottling buckets? I was leaning on the side of no since I'd assume if they got a scratch, it wouldn't be as much of a problem since they're housing the liquid only for 30...

Bad or good idea to make a 'collar' for a fermentation chamber?

I see a lot of people online are making collars on chest freezers to make kegerators, but I was wondering if the same could effectively be done for a smaller 5 cu. ft chest freezer? Right now I'm thinking of that as a possibility if I want to get two 5 gallon batches brewing at the same time. I...

Fermentation smelled great, then terrible (US-05)

Pitched on 7/4, everything seems to be going fine. Fermentation smells great like usual, until 7/9 (5th day), I don't know if that's what sulfur smells like but god damn  It went from smelling good to terrible basically overnight Any reason to be concerned, or just wait it out? I did...

Anyone know a good 120V Induction Burner for 5g batch brews?

Title says it all. What I'm looking for is possibly creating a work area where I can brew, but not have to use the stove. I see a bunch of 120V / 1800W burners on Amazon, but don't know which of those can handle a 10g kettle with 7+ gallons of liquid on top of it (most say 20 lbs max, which I'm...

One of the best feelings in the world

Sipping an IPA, then exhaling and smelling hops on your breath. Yeah, that definitely ranks up there :D

    Upsizing from 2.5g to 5g

I'm deciding to uspsize to 5g batches. 2.5g batches seem perfect if you're just drinking them yourselves, but if you plan to share a lot of your drinks, one case of beer can go bye bye real quick. I feel myself needing to brew 3-4x a month (only possible because my gf is out of town right now...

Ferulic Acid Rest with BiAB Question

Hey guys, I'm planning to brew a Bavarian Hefeweizen this weekend, and been researching on how to get banana flavors. I keep hearing that in order to get that, you need to do a ferulic acid rest at 110 for 20 minutes before the mash at 153ish. So if I'm doing a BiAB, would I do this by resting...

WB-06 Ferment Temp for more Banana Flavors (Hefeweizen)

Title says it all, does anybody have experience with this yeast? I only tried making a hefe once before, and was disappointed with the results. It wasn't a bad beer, but it was missing the banana flavor that the hefe's I tried in Germany had. I did read elsewhere that you have to ferment this...

When you get more liquid than you anticipated

And you know for sure there'll be some (or a lot) of blowoff. What do you do? Just curious haha. I just made a grapefruit IPA which looks like it'll be awesome (OG 1.070), but ended up with much less headspace than usual. Day 1 of fermentation and it looks like it's already near the top, lol...

How much cane sugar to prime 22 oz bombers?

Hey! Just wondering for anyone who individually prime bottles with sugar (I know some of you are out there), how much cane sugar would I use to prime a 22 oz bottle? Would 1tsp be overkill or the right amount? I currently do heaping 1/2 tsp for a 12oz bottle, I'm guessing a level 1 tsp for a...

Hefeweizen with 10-15% headspace, take liquid out or leave it?

Hey guys, first time doing a hefe and I hear how explosive the fermentations can get for them. So after chilling the wort and transferring to the carboy, I don't have much headspace at all. I have a blowoff set up so should it be ok? I can't babysit it this weekend, so I'm a little nervous...

    IPA Recipe - Chinook/Cascade/CTZ - How's this look?

Hey, I've been brewing for a little bit, but still rather new at throwing my own recipes together. I was wondering how this would turn out... Making a kinda-Hawaii themed IPA Named Oh Triple C (anyone from here would be able to recognize that lol), basically using 3 different types of "C" hops...

    Bottle conditioning stronger beer

Hey, I was just wondering, I know that stronger beers take longer to carbonate, but I was wondering if they ever get as carbed as say, a 4.5% beer would? Current situation: I have a batch of a 4.7% golden ale and 6.1% IPA in the fridge, those fully carbed in 1 week and have perfect carbonation...

    Choose my next IPA!

So I've gotten enough brews under my belt to where I think I have my process nailed down, and I've been mostly following clone recipes of beers that I'm familiar with. Now I'm wanting to try a beer that isn't a clone of something. Something new! I do want an IPA recipe though, nothing just...
