What's the big deal with kit brewing

I’ve been wanting to do a saison soon.

What's the big deal with kit brewing

I think we shopped the same sale. I only have the Belgian left, though. That Swig of Sunbeams is great, dude! A lot of positive from my buddies. And I can’t stop drinking them. The stout is in the bottles for a week today and I couldn’t wait so tried one last night. Coming along very nicely. I...

Chocolate Milk Stout - fermentation question

And sorry. I didn’t pay attention to the date on your original post. I thought this was older than it was. I have a relaxed brain.

Chocolate Milk Stout - fermentation question

I’m not home right now to look at my notes, but I think it finished at 1021. Almost certain that’s what it was. Also, I didn’t bake my nibs, but I did do a 24 hr vodka soak. Airlock smells great.

Chocolate Milk Stout - fermentation question

Hey Merds, I brewed this same one and am bottling this weekend. Question. When I took my gravity before adding the cocoa, it had a pretty smoky taste to it. Did you get that? Not in a bad way, just didn’t expect it to have that. Can’t wait to see how the nibs changed it.

    New Brewer Panic

I too brewed this same kit as my first. And had the exact same question and fear. It turned out fine. No worries, man. Mine finished around 1.002 or 3.

    What should I make?

Not super familiar with the style, but it sounded good and the deal was “buy the stout, get the Belgian free”, so I couldn’t pass it up. Not a fan?

    What should I make?

Exactly what I was thinking. Thanks for the input. Probably what I will do, though i may go stout then Belgian. I think the cold will stay, AJinJacksonville.

    What should I make?

I like your idea. If I had the room for all three at once, I would definitely do it.

    What should I make?

Stupid question, but I’m a very indecisive kinda guy. I’m leaning toward the DIPA, but I just can’t decide between that and the milk stout. So I decided to put it to a vote, but no one is texting me back. So here we are... What should I brew this weekend, boys?

    Beginner Rig

I bought a starter kit from northern brewer for 50 bucks that came with a pale ale recipe kit. I’m very pleased with it. Bought a brew kettle at Walmart. Don’t remember how much. And a thermometer. Saved bottles from the store bought beers I drank. So I’m in for less than 100 bucks and I brew...

    Ferm time for Weizenbock?

I will make sure before I bottle. I took one and it was at 1.012 which surprised me a little bit. I did not expect it to go that low. Gonna check on Sunday and see if it’s still there.

    Ferm time for Weizenbock?

Yeah it took off pretty quickly and went nuts the first 2 or so days. Today is day 6 and it looks like it’s about done. Gonna take a gravity when I get home and see what’s up.

    Ferm time for Weizenbock?

That’s what I suspected. Thank you, man.

    Ferm time for Weizenbock?

Hey guys. I have an extract Weizenbock in the fermenter. It has been going strong for a week now. Smells great coming out of the airlock. Gonna get a gravity once it looks like it’s done. My question is, how long should I let it sit before I bottle? I know I want some yeast hanging out in a...

    Hefeweizen Done to fast?

Hey guys. To tag this, I have a Weizenbock going right now (that smells ridiculous coming out of the airlock). Do I also want to bottle and drink this one very fresh? Or would I want to let it calm down a bit due to the high ABV. Started at 1.071. I’m really looking forward to this one.

All cascade pale ale. Galaxy dry hop?

Thanks man. This is my first experience with dry hopping. I’m worried I’m gonna ruin my beer. Lol

All cascade pale ale. Galaxy dry hop?

Thinking about tossing 1oz of galaxy into my pale ale. Any tips as to how long I should leave them? Or whether or not this is a good idea? I’m thinking 4 or 5 days before I bottle. I’ve read that they work well together. I’ve also read that galaxy can impart a bit of a grassy flavor if left too...
