    So who's brewing this weekend?

Brewed up Flanders. Way colder than I expected it to be but chill time was quick.

Survey: if you could do one thing over again regarding Homebrew would it be?

The kit we picked out with our start up equipment was a Bock....Don't buy a lager without a proper lagering vessel as your first beer....

    My first oak barrel

Some unsolicited pointers. I suggest brewing up a "nonsour?" Belgian that you are turning I to a Flanders. Let it ferment out then toss that into the barrel with wild yeast/bacteria you want. If you ferment primary in the barrel you lose a lot because the barrel has to be so full and the...

    Building a Sculpture

The info I was looking for! Seems like you can go fairly cheaper with electric when. It comes to a table. It might be more worth my time to just worry about converting my kettles for the pumps and just stick to the turkey fryers for a bit. End goal is to get venting in my basement...

    Building a Sculpture

Hey all, Not sure if there are good guides for building up a brew sculpture but I'm in the process of making one slowlly. My question is where do I go next? My goal is fulling automated electric HERMS or RIMS. Currently I do batch sparging and have two turkey fryers. I have a 10g cooler for...

    My first oak barrel

I highly suggest a listen into a Basic Brewing radio episode on 9-17-15 about Small Barrel brewing. It is about sour barrels but the guest speaking about taking care of barrels and using them for things like RIS and such before souring. Since you are not going to have anything in the barrel...

    So who's brewing this weekend?

Yesterday my brother and I brewed A saison, Pale Ale and an Oktoberfest ale. Took way to long on one burner (didn't have our second one with us).

    Brewing Supplies Storage

I use a larger plastic container with lid that can hold my wort chiller, cleaning supplies and addatives (salts/irish moss). It is handy as I can just grab that container on Brew Day. For smaller stuff that isn't needed as much I have a plastic drawer that holds extra kegging supplies, caps...

    Video Games

I wish I could get into Dragon Age more. Only made it to like level 10. Skyrim has been eating the little Xbox time I have.

    Man, I love Apfelwein

I have some now that is similar recipe (used cider rather than Apple Juice). It was in Primary from Dec2015-Aprilish2016. I moved it to Secondary last year. I just tried it and it's doing ok. There are some very very faint oxidation notes. My secondary even has some trub in it. Why do I...

MENARD'S Criterion chest freezer, anyone keezer it?

Sorry to red a dead thread but I have a question. I just busted my GE 7.0 cu which I had a coller for. The coller measures 36.75x20 3/8. Do you think my coller would fit on this one? Its 3/4 think wood so there in wiggle room. Thanks.

Groom to be needs inspiration for wedding brews

Congrats! Wanted to do this for ours, but we couldn't bring any alcohol in. For a bourbon barrel check out oak spirals or chips. You can get different char levels and you can soak that in bourbon. If you start now you have some time to play around with the levels you'd like. Keep in mind...

What craft beer do you secretly despise?

Keep trying them, I feel like that this is a category that has a huge variety in tasting profile compared to other "categories".

Wort trub stained wood floor. How to get out?

This is a reason to refinish your floors! Or buy a rug.... My guess is sanding and sealing is the best quick/cheap approach, is it actually super noticeable? I had an explosive fermentation that stained the ceiling in an apartment. Luckily they didn't look up when it came to our deposit...

What craft beer do you secretly despise?

This. I love IPAs but I hate when I goto a place and this is the majority of their craft beer selection... When I lived in TX, HEB had this issue.

    1st Cyser

Thanks Yooper. I racked today, tastes good. I had 1.020 for gravity reading before adding top off water. I know I should have taken it after. What I'll do it make sure to take 2 readings a few days apart from each other when I'm ready to transfer again.
