    Pumpkin question!

Mashed a pumpkin ale yesterday that was about 3 lbs of roasted pumpkin with about 13 lbs of grain. Didn't have any issues with the lauter, but wasn't BIAB. I've done pumpkin ales in the past, but I'm not sure the pumpkin imparts much flavor. I would spice with the typical pumpkin pie spices...

Wacky Sam Calagione Randall Jr. Commercial

Randall Jr. looks smaller, but maybe the same manufacturer? Doesn't really seem like a bad deal, but agree an infuser/french press would work just as easily and effectively. http://www.aquaovo.com/Aquaovo/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=78&Itemid=137&lang=en

    Best Half-time show ever

The stage was cool, the pyrotechnics were alright, but the performance was uninspired. Could CBS have just been doing this on the cheap since they use The Who for all incarnations of CSI? Thought the SNL performance of Them Crooked Vultures the night before was more entertaining. Surprised...

NHL 2009/20020 Season - Drunken Trash talk Allowed

I like the move by NJ, and I think for this trade to be considered successful they'll have to make it at least to the conference championship. It will be interesting to watch the East playoff picture shake out over the next 8 weeks. Agree that ATL isn't that strong of a franchise so this...

NHL 2009/20020 Season - Drunken Trash talk Allowed

The Devils....really? Maybe this will push the Devils over the top for my Stanley Cup Finals prediction from back in October. I can't imagine rejecting a 12 year 101 million dollars. That is insane. So you think he's heading to the KHL after the season? http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=516293

NHL 2009/20020 Season - Drunken Trash talk Allowed

Was also really surprised the Blues didn't come out and mix it up more, last game looked like the Blues only objective was to skate through players. Last nights game could have been played in a no-check league. Mason was excellent between the pipes and made some tough saves at the end of the...

    Lost

Watched and then rewatched parts I was unsure about. Found it interesting that Desmond was on the plane, and reading Salman Rushdies book, Haroun and the Sea Stories, which seems to have some parallels with the stories in Lost. I wonder if Desmond is able to be the vehicle for Jacob to leave...

DOG LOVERS: I have a year to teach my dog to fetch a beer from the fridge!

This is an awesome project and I think with the right amount of time you'll be very successful. Now your original post didn't really stipulate the dogs need to bring you an individual bottle. I would consider constructing a four pack carrier (similar in style to cardboard ones at the store)...

    Willamette on its own...

A SMaSH sounds like the way to go, but I think I'll probably make 6 gallons of a low gravity session beer using Marris Otter - Willamette and split the yeast with an English variety and Belgian variety. Lots of wonderful suggestions, sounds like 2010 is the year of Willamette.

    Willamette on its own...

Not to hijack the thread, but I'm quite interested in how the discussion goes on this topic. I purchased a pound of Willamette from Hopsdirect back in December because I kept seeing them come up in what I could define as a reputable recipe from different online forums. Now since, I've heard...

I'm assuming the answer to this question is YES and RDWHAHB, but...

Thanks for posting. I've never had a black IPA, but have heard good things (I think Stone did a black IPA last year) and would like to do one myself. I ordered Willamette and Bullion hops a while back and heard that Bullion does well in stouts....I wonder how it might pair with this recipe if...

NHL 2009/20020 Season - Drunken Trash talk Allowed

Luongo was awesome, the Canucks did play a solid game plan, but this should have been a closer game. Obviously, every month won't be like December, but it seems Huet is offering up some soft goals, and the there are time when the rest of team is throwing the puck away blindly. I'm sure the...

    S.S. or Aluminum Stock Pot?

I've tried several different pots over the years (enamel lined, aluminum, stainless steel) and enjoy the aluminum pot that came with my turkey fryer. What caused you to come to the conclusion the pot was a POS? Amazon usually has some decent cookware deals or your local restaurant supply store...

I'm assuming the answer to this question is YES and RDWHAHB, but...

I wouldn't worry about where you're at now. Without the recipe it is kind of a stab in the dark, but WLP001's attenuation from WL site is 73-80% and you're only at about 63%. I usually just start fermentation and let it sit for 2-3 weeks and let the yeast do their job. What kind of beer did...

    Still Planning in Chicago

Congratulations on jumping in with that NB Stout kit. I've heard good things, but haven't brewed it myself. I've had good luck cobbling together a system on the cheap. You just have to keep your eyes out and let your friends know to be on the lookout for some equipment you could use for...

NHL 2009/20020 Season - Drunken Trash talk Allowed

Kesler goes all Greco-Roman on Ladd to end the first period. Now the 'Hawks need to score otherwise this is going to be a long game. Niemi's been out of position all-night. Edit: Well second period was a waste. Hoping my bomber of SN Celebration Ale sparks a 4 goal third period.

    Ringwood IPA's (commercially available)

I believe Arcadia Brewing does most of their beers with Ringwood. I'm certain these are brewed in Michigan, but I don't know if they make it out to the PNW.

    Worst Cooks in America

I've seen both episodes and just feel like all this show is trying to do is humiliate people that at least seem willing to learn some culinary skills. My personal opinion is that this show could have been great had Alton Brown hosted it and simply taught the basics. Who has a teppanyaki...

NHL 2009/20020 Season - Drunken Trash talk Allowed

It'll be interesting to watch the Kovalchuck trade situation develop. I'd heard the Kings rumors and saw that Lombardi was on his way to the ATL to discuss. The benefit that LA has going for them is they seem to have the cap room to sign to a long-term contract, which is something Chicago does...
