    Beers with molasses

I loooove the molasses taste in beer. Are there any readily available beers that you like that have that molasses flavor? I'm in GA if that helps.

    RTD placement?

I'm in the process of building an electric kettle with a PID (will use it as both a water heater for strike/sparge water AND a boil kettle). While heating water there will be no re-circulation (all gravity system). Will be using a Blichmann kettle with a Blichmann BoilCoil and an Auber PID...

Asking for feedback on first recipe

I'm trying to replicate the Honey Cream Ale extract kit from Williams Brewing HERE This is the first recipe I have made myself so any feedback would be appreciated ( I have done many AG kits ). I intend to put the honey in at flameout (same as the kit from Williams Brewing). Here is the...

    Still cider questions

I have a friend that can't drink carbonated beverages but loves cider. Can I just make a batch of cider like I normally do (sodium metabisulfite and backsweeten) and just bottle them? I usually keg everything I make, but if I bottle it after sodium metabisulfite it will not ferment and be a...

    Welch's watermelon juice?

Anyone tried to ferment a batch of this stuff? Any idea what it would come out like? Would any of the watermelon flavor survive after back sweetening? http://www.walmart.com/ip/Welch-s-Chillers-Watermelon-Juice-Drink-64-fl-oz/34345431#Ingredients

    Fresh hop usage amount?

I'm going to brew this recipe https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f66/cascades-orange-pale-ale-84558/ I'm going to use 1oz pellet hops for bittering and the rest will be fresh hops just cut that day. What is the 1oz pellet to fresh hop conversion? I keep seeing it's 10% more by weight but that...

    Keggle won't sit on burner

So I got some kegs i'm going to turn into keggles. I will eventually build a brutus stand but for now I use the burner below and the keg will not sit on it (the bars are too short). Any suggestions? I do own a welder and am considering trying to weld some extensions on it maybe.

    Brewing pump/Herms question

When using a pump to push wort through a HERMS coil is it correct that you loose a little wort that stays in the coil and the pump lines (since the pump can't run dry)? Seems like you would lose some wort during the mash with herms and then also when pumping from the mash tun into the boil...

Can I build a HERMS in this kettle?

I own this kettle and am wondering if I will run into any issues building a HERMS coil into it. http://www.williamsbrewing.com/BREWERS-EDGE-32-QUART-BREWKETTLE-P2365.aspx Directions I found: http://www.theelectricbrewery.com/hot-liquor-tank?page=4 Also, will it be ok to use less than 50...

    Cheaper brew kettle than MegaPot?

I'm considering upgrading to these http://www.northernbrewer.com/shop/brewing/brewing-equipment/brew-kettles/megapot-1-2-brew-kettle-with-ball-valve-brewmometer.html Are there any brands that are a bit cheaper? Looking for a SS kettle, 10 gallons with thermometer and spout already installed.

    Kettle as mash tun questions

I currently use a cooler as a mash tun and it works great. I'm step my step upgrading my equipment until I eventually build a brutus stand so I will be, at that time, using a kettle with false bottom as a mash tun. Here are my questions: 1.) Is it ok to just use a burner under the mash tun...

    Is my FG low enough?

I did the Northerbrewer Oatmeal Cookie Brown Ale BIAB (my first venture into all grain). The only thing I added that wasn't in the package was Clarity Ferm. http://www.northernbrewer.com/shop/oatmeal-cookie-brown-ale-biab-all-grain-kit.html My OG was 1.066. After two weeks in primary and...

    Uncarbonated beer on purpose?

The girl i'm dating had some acid reflux surgeries and can't have anything carbonated. Is there any way to make uncarbonated beer not taste bad?

    Transporting kegs

I am going to be moving two kegs to a wedding. They will already be done and carbd at the time I move them. Should I release the pressure in the keg before moving them or leave them pressurized?

Best way to store in keg?

I'm making 2 batches for a friends wedding in May. I only have 1 fermenter currently so i'll be making 1 batch at a time, then kegging it and starting on the other. My question is this: When I keg the first batch, should I go ahead and carb it or wait. This beer takes about 2 weeks to carb...

Cobb county brewer here, anyone else?

I'm a home brewer in Cobb County and was wondering if anyone was local. I've only done extract brews since I have a gluten allergy and have to use sorghum. I've only done 5 or so brews but really enjoy it. I also built a kegerator so all my brews are on tap!

The boil and how much water?

I've seen some recipes call for 2.5 gallons of water for the boil and then add the other 2.5 at the end and then others that call for just putting the 5 or so gallons in for the boil. What's the difference? This is for extract recipes.

    Mead from a keg?

I've read that people force carb sparkling mead in a keg and then bottle it. Could you just leave it in the keg and serve it that way? Also, if I wanted to age the mead would I do so in the keg? Would I age it under pressure?

    DFH Tweason'Ale recipe guesses?

I would like to make a batch of something as close as I can get to DFH Tweason'Ale. I contacted them and they will not give any info on their process. A friend and I are thinking about making a basic sorghum brew, blending some strawberries up and putting the mixture into the beer in...

    Drip catcher?

My keezer is 46 inches wide and has 5 taps. I have built it in a way where the chest freezer has not been altered, since it is new and I want to keep the warranty. This poses a problem when thinking about faucet drip trays. Most of the trays I see need to be drilled into the front of the...
