British Brown Ale Nut Brown AG

It WAS very malty at first. However that mellowed out the longer i conditioned it.

British Brown Ale Nut Brown AG

I brewed this one a while ago (with US-05) and wasnt impressed at first. But!!! It got better over time. Actually, 3-4 months after bottling, i really started to enjoy it. Not the best but much, much better once matured for some time. Im actually thinking of brewing another batch soon and...

Thanks for the reply! No worries dropping the coffee, but what would it have added/done to the recipe?

Salted .. Chipotle Stout? Help & Advice

Hi guys, I could use help fine-tuning my recipe to try and meet these two ideas. You might and probably should flame me for this, but I keep things simple with 2 gallon batches & no OG/FG readings (yes yes, i've just ordered a refractometer). 1) Anyways, here's the scenario: I tasted a...

First batch: final volume to fermenter very low and other problems

Im not sure if i misunderstood or not, but this is very important: Did you leave headroom in your fermenter or did you fill it to the top/brim? Beware the krausen, which if left wih no room, will definitely spill out of fermenter

    Wheres the 2.5 Gallon Brewer'$???

Im a 2gal brewer. Using two Little Brown Kegs for my all grains and im loving it. Variety over quantity. Plus these LBKs are magic when comes cleaning time. No airlocks, no siphons, no carboys, no tubing :)

    first ipa recipe

Im relatively new to IPA brewing as well, but i did stick with the 15-5-0 schedule. Im stocked with a fee different hops but before playing around with all of them, i figured i'd learn what each of them do. Simcoe smells amazing, but if you're to dry hop with both and add both during 15-5-0...

    Post your infection

Out of curiosity, Im not sure whether or not I have an infection as this is the first time I use liquid yeast in my beer. A few greasy bubbles are persisting and it's almost time for a dry hop. What I'd like to know is: will adding dry hops in a sanitized bag help kill off the beginnings of an...

    Dry stout fermentation?!?!

The best thing to do, but also the hardest, is to simply forget about the fermenting beer for two weeks. Even if it might finish in 7 days, leave it alone for at least14 days. There's no harm in a beer sitting an extra week or two in the fermenter. ive actually been told it's better for the...

American IPA My 2-time gold winning American IPA

Im cooling he wort right now, about to pitch yeast. Im really digging the taste! Though i'm still a noob, I never would have thought to mix Willamette with Cascade and am glad to be experimenting/learning how to match hops together

    Flat beer

Out of curiosity, what kind of bottles did u use? I had a few flat bottles myself the other day and realized that some weren't sealed properly. One was a swingtop with a seal needing to be changed and the other was a plastic 1L bottle that wasn't twisted tightly enough

American IPA My 2-time gold winning American IPA

Somewhat urgent question: I'm brewing 2 gallons on this recipe tomorrow. I see the recipe calls for 2 x vials of California ale (did I misread?). This is the first time I'm using this type of liquid yeast and it says on the label that one vial is good for 5 gals. Should I still be using...

    IPA Insights

While logical, I would not risk this. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Would love to see his actual end-product after this video: hopefully he never spittled into it during the making of the vid :cross:

Mr Beer - Read all about it and ask questions

the LBK rocks! i quit using carboys, tubing and siphons. I never made a Mr Beer kit, but bought those Little brown kegs for my extract and all-grain recipes because they're headache-free

    First Brew

I kind of have the same problem as you Brent, in that temperature is on the high-side (wife is cold and temp is controlled by the building not by me). I've therefore been brewing with Safale S-05 yeast, which is a more lenient on temperature ranges than most. So far so good! But that's because I...

Little Brown Keg Thread & Recipes

Here's one recipe that's currently in one of my LBKs (i'm somewhat of a noob and haven't yet botherd with OG-FG readings. I simply brew it, then deal with it ) (LHBS was closed and i had extract and time on hand) Final batch size = 1.85 gallons ( did not want to dilute to...

Little Brown Keg Thread & Recipes

Thought I'd start a thread on the Little Brown Kegs by Mr. Beer. To put things in perspective, I have never brewed a Mr. Beer kit, but found one of those kegs for 5$ and thought I could make good use if it. I started out brewing 1-gallon batches but quickly realized how much of a drag...

American IPA My 2-time gold winning American IPA

I was on my HBT mobile app yesterday and couldn't see the first part (size, yeast, etc.) of the original post but only the ingredients and the hops schedule .. Weird. I see it now on my laptop. Sorry for what seemed to be a bizarre message :/

American IPA My 2-time gold winning American IPA

Sorry im still somehwat of a noob, but on the iriginal post, i see no info regarding yeast strain or batch volume and boil time. From what i gathered, the original recipe calls for: - 5gal - 90min boil But what yeast? Would safale s 05 or 04 do fine? Or am i really missing out if i dont use...
