    Whats for dinner???

It's team trivia night, so I'll probably be eating an overpriced sandwich and drinking some overpriced mediocre beer. It'll be fun, though. :)

    Kona Brewing Co.

Apparently a rep was here wooing local distributors or something not too long ago. One of the hotels I do some consulting work for had a box full of six packs sitting behind the desk and said they were left by a guest that was here representing the brewery. Of course I managed to grab a...

How to Open a Beer Without an Opener

Just avoid the Reef sandals with the opener on the bottom. Nothing says refreshing like opening your beer with the bottom of your shoe.

    Fish flies; airborne for 45sec

Does an airsoft gun count? :D Plenty of folks carry weapons offshore. I'm sure someone's given it a go with a shotgun.

    Fish flies; airborne for 45sec

They fly away from the boat wake all the time when we head offshore. I've never timed one before, and while 45 seconds may be noteworthy, I'd say 25-35 seconds isn't anything out of the ordinary. What's really fun is counting the number you can pull from the belly of a caught dolphin (the...

    New Bud Lager Glass

In all honesty, I think the BL Lime is a better "Corona and Lime" than Corona is. I've heard someone else say that as well. I know, it's terrible to admit that I've actually bought the stuff, but when it's used as beach swill, it's not that bad. :D

    adding an extra regulator?

Did you try a welding shop? The guys at my local Praxair were ridiculously helpful in setting me up with the right fittings for my freebie regulator. I don't see a Praxair near Raleigh on Google Maps, but there is a National Welders Supply.

    Plum?

Anyone ever tried a plum beer? I'm thinking about picking up a honey wheat kit and maybe incorporating the plum in secondary.

    Slow Computer -- Grrrrrrr

I have also opted to build my own in the past - for the past 10-12 years or so. I recently had to replace my aging desktop, and while I could have built my own, I opted to go for a Dell. I only needed a low-end Desktop (actually the specs were very similar to Sir Humpsalot's - E2180, 2GB RAM...

    Eyeglasses........ugh.............

I've heard from some folks who have placed orders with Hong Kong based mail order eyeglass places, and most of them seem satisfied with the quality of the product for the price. About five years ago, I bought a pair of Swissflex rimless glasses with polycarbonate lenses and the top-of-the-line...

    Keggle parts and fittings?

I managed to find someone to do the plasma cutting and TIG welding required to turn my three 1/2 barrel kegs into useful brew vessels ... best part is, they're going to do it all in exchange for a 5 gallon batch of brew! :mug: I'm not at the point where I need to be thinking of going all...

    Score!!!

I think my local Praxair was around the $20 mark for a 20lb exchange. Am I the only one that would prefer an aluminum tank? No worries about rust, lighter weight, etc.

    Score!!!

You might be able to swap it out for a filled tank at a place that deals in tank swaps. Check in your Yellow Pages or on Google for a welding supply or gas supply shop in your area (National Welders Supply and Praxair are two examples). I've heard they either don't check or don't care about...

    CO2 Regulator fittings

125-3000 isn't the range listed on the gauge. Those figures are the safe operating figures located on a sticker on the back of the regulator housing. The low pressure gauge ranges from 0-160 PSI. Not perfect, but certainly manageable. Honestly, I plan to locate a couple of secondary...

    CO2 Regulator fittings

It is a high pressure regulator - 3000 PSI primary, 125 PSI secondary as indicated by its markings. The fitting that's currently on the inlet looks exactly like the one that attached to this Harbor Freight regulator. What I need is the other one in that picture. And an appropriate outlet...

    CO2 Regulator fittings

I'm finally making progress on my kegging setup - a 24 cubic foot refrigerator off Craigslist and a free CO2 tank and cheap regulator from an acquaintance took care of the largest pieces. The regulator remains a problem. I was all set to order a Micromatic Premium dual-gauge regulator, but...

World Beer Fest Raleigh, NC 4/26/08

Man, what a busy weekend. Drove back to Wilmington at 7am Sunday morning to help the bro prepare for a small gathering at his place, and ended up getting dragged down to the Obama rally at 7am this morning. I had a fantastic time, as did my (allegedly) older brother. :D It was a pleasure...

    White Stripes--why didn't I get the f-ing memo?

I really wish they'd stop closer to here. TN is just a little too far (and Bonnaroo is too expensive), and man would I love to see them. Carolina Drama off their latest album is one hell of a song.
