That's amazing! I've heard of flying fish before, but never for so long. I wonder what freaked it out like that?

They fly away from the boat wake all the time when we head offshore. I've never timed one before, and while 45 seconds may be noteworthy, I'd say 25-35 seconds isn't anything out of the ordinary.

What's really fun is counting the number you can pull from the belly of a caught dolphin (the fish, not the mammal). I pulled four or five completely whole flying fish out of one last summer.

Same way you retrieve the bits of clay pigeon carcass... Other fish need to eat too, we would just be helping the little fish get an easier meal.
