    Molasses-Peat Stout?

Anybody ever tried a stout with molasses and peat smoked malt? Maybe I'm weird, but it sounds good to me. I can see the label now: "Peater Rabbit's Stout." :D Any recipe ideas? And please, hold back the anti-peat comments.

    Oak Question

Can I just use some red oak pieces (sanitized) in my secondary? Ships (and I believe barrels) are made of white oak. I'm not sure if white oak tastes different that red. I am looking for an oak flavor in my next two brews, and I have a lot of red oak boards... some are over 100 years old.

    Karo

Could corn syrup be used in a beer? It seems to me that it would add more fermentable sugar and little if no taste. Isn't it just corn sugar in a liquid form? Kinda like LME vs DME. Maybe I could brew a beer for my friends that think Sam Adams id the be-all-and-end-all in beer.

    looking for a hoppy nose

I would like to brew a very hoppy IPA for my second home brew. I really enjoy Arcadia's IPA and their Nut Brown Ale. The Nut Brown has the same floral hoppy nose, but is less bitter than their IPA. I like them both, but my bride dosen't like the bitterness of the IPA (but she loves Guinness and...
