    Fermentation time

Due to the coffee bean oils, I read that there really won't be any kraeusen. I took a quick peak and there is a think layer on top.

    Fermentation time

I brewed a batch of Jasper's I eat Danger for Breakfast Stout on Sunday. Pitched two new vials of yeast. I had vigorous bubbling all day Monday but no bubbles on Tuesday or today. I missed the OG a bit and ended up at 1.072 Am I OK? Do I need to add more yeast? Is this typical for this recipe?

I Eat Danger For Breakfast Stout

I brewed Jaspers extract version of this on Sunday. I pitched 2 vials of yeast and by Monday morning it was bubbling. By Tuesday night it was done. This seems too early to stop bubbling.... Any thoughts? OG Gravity only made it to 1.072

Morebeer Pliny The Elder Instructions Confusion

UPDATE: After 5 days of dry hopping, I was still at a FG of 1.012 at day 25. Tried it last night and I thought it was very good. Decided to leave the dry hops in for 2 more days. I will plan on bottling this Friday (Day 27 overall).

Pliny the Elder Extract - Secondary?

I am currently on day 12 of fermentation. My plan is to dry hop this weekend for 7 days. Should I dry hop in my primary or move to a secondary and dry hop in there?

    Hop Addition during boil

When adding several different hops at various times... Do you leave all of them in for the entire boil and add at different intervals or when you add the next one, do you remove the last one?

Pliny the Elder Clone Hop addition

I am currently in the process of brewing a Pliny extract clone from MoreBeer. When I add the different hops at the different intervals... Do I remove the hops that were added first or do I keep them in for the entire boil...and just keep adding the additional hops? Thanks! Scott

Bummed out about Austin Homebrew's practices

I expect when ordering from an online company that if they allow you to put an item in the cart and proceed to checkout that they have the item 'in stock'. Not to get an email 3 days later, stating they are out of stock. I completely agree about buying local. I just found out that our first...

Bummed out about Austin Homebrew's practices

Similar issue here. Ordered a Belgian White extract from them last weekend. I received an email yesterday that they are out of wheat DME. So much for brewing this Saturday....

    Yes, I did both.

    First brew

I just ordered the AHS Belgian White Beer that should be here later this week to start in my primary. I will leave the Stout for another 2 weeks in the secondary and then bottle. I am guessing I will leave the Belgian White in the primary for 3-4 weeks. Thanks for all the help so far!

    First brew

I steeped the grains for 30 minutes…as the recipe stated. I am happy with the taste so far…was just hoping it would be darker as some of the reviews said. First batch for me…so as long as it comes out tasting like some type of beer….I will be happy!

    First brew

Newbie brewer here… My first brew is 5 gallons of Midwest Irish Stout. According to the reviews on the Midwest site…they say it comes out close to a Guiness. I am finding it to be closer to a Newcastle (more of a nut brown color/taste). Any ideas? I followed the directions precisely...
