    RIMS help

I had the same response when I bought my RIMS tube from him. I bought a control box that was too compact to add onto later. So I wanted to do it right the first time, and rather than buying a bigger box (I like the very compact size I have), I went back and bought a second pump and element...

    What creates a "Rocky" head?

Not sure exactly what you mean, but the head on my BM's Black Pearl Porter could be described as such. Only beer I've made with a head like that.

St. Patrick is upon us! What's on the menu?

Show Me Your Wood Brew Sculpture/Rig

Thanks. I'm an engineer, too, and primarily a sailor. My intention was to make it look like a well weathered dock, and I'm thinking my bar build will be the other half of the rack. It's ugly compared to others, but it will always look the same. The plywood came directly from a shed (destroyed by...

    Anyone have two brewing rigs?

Still working on building, but my plan is to set up an electric HLT for my propane setup to hold temperatures better. This was my original brew kettle and I plan to use it for indoor eBIAB during winter.

Show Me Your Wood Brew Sculpture/Rig

I do have to say, fastener choice does not replace good design. I left out my diagonal braces for the boat rack, because I had my big boat on a trailer parked perpendicular with the transom overhanging. That caused the bottom bolts to tear the wood during the hurricane.

Show Me Your Wood Brew Sculpture/Rig

Here's mine in progress, recycled from my boat rack that Sandy took out. I originally was going to have it single tier with 2 burners and a table spot, but decided to go with a 2 tier, so will be shortening it. I used lag bolts, because I bought a box when I built the boat rack.

Lots of excess grain in wort

Had a similar event happen when brewing with a friend. We siphoned what we could into a separate bucket, and back to the brew pot, and carried on. Came with a great name though: Bob's Big Dump! It was an experiment with Maris Otter, and a hop schedule I got from somewhere on here. I...

Just say no to plastic spoons.

Same as most everyone else, I have the same paddle. I did leave it resting on the kettle handle one day for a couple minutes, and it did take on a slight curve, and for that reason I will be making a new wood one. No homebrew is most definitely a big problem. Most stressful brewday I had...

    Cyber Monday At NIKOBREW!

5 lbs here, too. Got a little carried away, but pound prices were equivalent to a couple ounces at the LHBS. Thanks!

    Christmas Party Recipe Advice

Just had my wife try my 2 week old batch of Nice ASP! IPA, and we both liked it (she doesn't like IPAs). Another week would be great. Not quite happy with the head though ... BB PSA IPA: 6.6 lb Light LME 1 lb Light DME 4 oz Carapils 8 oz Caramel 40L 1 oz Summit 60 min 1 oz Palisade 20...

The kit was Brewer's Best. I'll check my AG recipe when I get home tonight. It should be carbed tonight, for verification.

    Christmas Party Recipe Advice

Last year, I brought a keg of kit PSA IPA to a xmas party. Everybody loved it. Mild and fruity enough of an IPA for non-IPA drinkers, good beer on it's own for the people who could appreciate it. I brewed another AG clone for this year.
