Unboxing the Nano from CO Brewing

That’s great. Reading through this thread there are plenty of older posts with people reporting stuck mashes, flow issues, playing with crush size, rice hills, teeing the flow of through the whirlpool port, etc. I’ve been to the CBS shop and the guys specifically told me they changed to a bigger...

Unboxing the Nano from CO Brewing

One thing to remember here, is how old are some of these CBS systems. They changed to a 600 micron screen in the basket sometime in 2018, which has eliminated these stuck mashes and flow problems. I can run my pump full throttle no issue at all, which also solves the temp stratification some are...

I keep a keg oring replacement set on hand, you can find them at homebrewing shops and online. Kegging for 10 years and can’t think of more than 2 or 3 I’ve ever changed. Good to have ready when you need though.

I can tell you from owning a Z that the zymatic tabs are horrible. You can run a deep clean with a Z tab that looks clean, followed by a deep clean with the powerball and get tons of gunk out. There’s a reason they recommend the power balls and ship one with each Z and Pico unit.

Good point there, don’t expect ANY help officially on the questionable stuff. Your on your own, but nothing a couple hours on google won’t help you get an understanding of. Then there’s the non existent instructions. Again, pretty much on your own setting it up but it’s pretty intuitive. I hear...

Yes, they are the best thing you can use, the regular Finish powerballs.

Yes yes, it pulls in air from the step filter to push for racking. It’s VERY low pressure, pump runs minimum speed. If you caught it quick you probably didn’t get any water in. Don’t worry even if you did it will be fine.

They are definitely out there and work great. Your not going to get many people talking about or posting videos of illegal stuff, at least I know I haven’t and won’t. Hang in there, they are trickling out and work great, for those hop oils ;)

Thaw it and drink it. No problem. I’ve froze a keg or two before lol.

You must not of been around in the early days! Lots of complaints because of their optimistic timelines. It took a while to get people to exercise patience but the results speak for themselves. I still think the reason they continue to instruct pitching an entire package of yeast in these small...

No, and the Zymatic can’t go under about 2 gallon batches. They advertise 1 gallon for the Z so who knows, but I suspect it will be the same as the Zymatic, with some sort of insert making the step filter smaller for Picopacks being the 1 gallon they advertise.

Both. They were hardcore about it. Picostill posts in my Pico users thread got deleted and I got warnings from admin even though I wasn’t posting them lol. If that policy has changed I wasn’t aware.

There is a Z thread going already, post there please, let’s get this one back on track Pico only. Thanks.

There’s a good reason, discussion of distilling is against the rules on HBT and will get this thread locked quick.

Yup PBW is a win/lose situation with those kegs. It’s your best bet to clean them since you can’t scrub them, but it will eat the electro-polish away quick and you won’t get many uses out of them. They are a disposable product anyway, the manufacturer claims they are good for 5 uses.

That big bad oxygen boogie man! Don’t be afraid, seriously. A siphon is the most common way homebrewers move beer around. I love fermenting in a keg, but not because of the ability to push with co2, I use the Pico to rack more often than co2, non issue. Brulosophy did an experiment on racking...

I deep clean every two. Pico says to deep clean after a back to back, not every three if doing two same day.

I’ve never seen tilts on sale. 1 pouch yeast is plenty. I would use fermcap just Incase, or keep an eye on it.
