iodine taste from pressure tank cleaned with Io Star

I have a RO setup that I use for drinking as well as brew water. I use a pressure tank that holds 7 gallons to help with brew days, but ordinarily there is not a lot of water turnover. That seems to lead to a bit of water contamination over time, which I can eventually taste. It's kind of a...

    240V Electric Home Brewery Controller

Have any of you ordered one of this company's products? http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00K6FEJTW/?tag=skimlinks_replacement-20 After doing the math on what it would cost to build a scaled down version of Kal's controller for the purposes of firing my 5500W HLT element with PID control...

    keg conditioning upside down

The last time I keg conditioned I ended up with a lot of gunk jamming up the outflow of my keg and it was very hard to clear. Has anyone tried flipping the keg upside down during keg conditioning to make sure the uptake pipe is kept free of fermentation residues?

Help me pick locations for my pump and a few manifolds

Attached is a pic of my brew setup with arrows pointing at a variety of locations I am considering for some changes to the setup. Of note, the third position on the table occupied by the grain mill now has a proper HLT, Kal style. I'm getting tired of my Chugger pump not priming well...

    GFCI question

I'm building a simple brew controller, and I'd like to split the outputs of the two outlets on a GFCI receptacle. Specifically, I'd like one to be attached to my PID and turn on/off as needed based on temperature fluctuations. The other I would like to attach to a simple toggle switch to control...

    Tightening ferrules

Very simple question here, but I couldn't find it already answered in a search. I have a dip tube and ferrule from bargain fittings.com and I can't seem to get it to tighten well around the dip tube. I've tried it with and without teflon tape on the 1/2" NPT I'm securing it to. I can get it...

    PID question

I'm trying to build a temperature stabilization system for my primary and secondary ferments based on a PID controller that activates a water pump that circulates ice water through a bath containing the fermentation vessel. I have a JLD612 hooked up to a SSR, temp probe, and pump. The PID is...
