Massachusetts 120V Small Batch Electric BIAB

Hey guys, looking to sell my small batch custom built 120v 20a Electric BIAB setup. $150 as-is. This is a 7.5 gal kettle designed to brew 2.5 or 3 gal all-grain batches with a 2000w element and Auber PID controller. Made many fine brews on this before I moved to a larger setup. Very...

    15 minute blonde ale?

I've read through the thread where people are having great success with 15 minute boil pale ales and IPAs, but was wondering if anyone has used the same process with a lighter style such as blonde ale. I've tried experimenting with it a few times and it seems to work fairly decent with just a...

    Pilsen light for most styles?

Are you guys finding that Briess Pilsen light works for most American styles that you brew? I've been experimenting with extract recently and tried a blonde ale with Pilsen light and one with golden light. The golden light definitely had an English pale ale style taste to it, where as the...

From Extract to All-grain and back again!

Hey gang! After brewing all grain via BIAB for the last few years, I have recently started brewing with extract and specialty grains again. The first batch reminded of how much easier and time saving extract can be versus all grain. As a result of the simplicity and shorter brew days I've...

    False bottom for ebiab?

Hey gang, wondering if anyone uses a false bottom in their kettle while recirculating the mash with an ebiab setup? I'm thinking of adding a pump to my setup and was curious if I might run into any issues with recirculation with a false bottom in the kettle vs the normal basket design that most...

    Spa Panel Wiring Question

Hey gang, I have a question about wiring a spa panel in a 4-wire in -> 3-wire out config(2 hots, 1 ground out). In the pic below it shows the neutral and ground bars with a wire running between them(connected)? Is this correct or am I misinterpreting it?

Wow! BIAB no mashout no-chill brewday

3.5 hour brewday(including setup, cleanup and putting everything away).. wow! Just wrapped up a 3 gal batch of honey brown ale utilizing eBIAB with no sparge/no mashout & racking into a no-chill cube. I can't believe how simple and stress-free of a brew session that was! Guess the we will...

    Basket or no basket

Hey gang, I was wondering what the general consensus was on using strainer baskets for BIAB? I am looking to do 2.5 - 5 gal batches and plan to ask for a new kettle for Christmas. Was thinking either a bayou classic 10 gal w/basket or 10 gal megapot 1.2... I'll be heating with a 3500w...

    Bagging hops in BK

Just curious if the majority of electric brewers use hop bags in their brew kettle or just dump the hops in? It's certainly cleaner to use a bag but if it doesn't effect the element, I'd almost rather just strain then out going into the fermenting.

    Stovetop Brew Kettle

Hey gang, was wondering which is better for stovetop brewing 3 gal AG batches and which would actually heat faster? 1)a smaller pot(5-6 gal) that can only fit on one burner 2)a larger pot(8-10 gal) that can span across 2 burners for people that have used both.. wondering if the 2 burner...

    Fastest BIAB brew day?

Hey gang! I am trying to streamline my brew days and hoping to shorten them as much as possible while still providing great results.. Here is what I was thinking for a typical 3 gal stovetop AG BIAB brew day.. Let me know if you see any areas where I could trim any fat! 1)heat strike...

    Charcoal beer?

My good friend and I are avid charcoal grillers and would like to incorporate some charcoal flavor or taste into some form of beer. Any thoughts on what base style might lend itself to some good ole charcoal flavor? I'm thinking we would be using natural lump charcoal, not brick charcoal...

Carbing 3 gal in 5 gal keg

My typical setup for carbing a 5 gal batch is too put the newly kegged warm beer into the keezer and carb for 48 hours at 30 psi then vent and turndown to serving pressure at 12 psi. Always seems to work pretty good. Now I am going to be doing some 3 gal batches that I want to carb in the same...

Dry yeast for 3 gal batches

I'm planning to start doing 3 gal BIAB AG full boil batches and was wondering if pitching a full packet of dry yeast (straight pitch, no rehydrating) would work out fairly well for this? Just don't want to be over pitching but if I don't rehydrate, it seems it would be fine.. Any quality...

    Partial mash/boil question

Is there any reason I couldn't boil the late DME addition in a separate pot with 1 gal of water and then add that mixture to main brew pot at flameout to chill before racking to carboy? I know some people just add the extract at flameout into the main pot, but I like the idea of boiling it a...

How to best utilize 5.0 keezer?

Hey gang, I'm trying to figure how to best use the available space in my small 5.0 cu ft keezer. I can fit 2 5gal and 1 2.5gal kegs in there. My thinking is to have a "house" type beer always on tap as well as a seasonal type beer.. So that covers the 2 5gal kegs.. Now what to do with the...

    What do you brew when..

.. you have no time in your busy schedule for long brewdays? For instance, when my wife and I eventually have our first child I imagine I will be exhausted all the time and I am wondering how this will effect my brewing hobby. Just wondering from the people that have busy lives and...

    Timing Question

Hey gang, I'm switching over to kegging this coming week and I had a question regarding timing of fermenting/conditioning/aging. I am extract brewing using NB kits(which are great!) and was trying to figure out the best way to go about it.. Question is.. If a recipe calls for 2 weeks...
