Hey gang, wondering if anyone uses a false bottom in their kettle while recirculating the mash with an ebiab setup? I'm thinking of adding a pump to my setup and was curious if I might run into any issues with recirculation with a false bottom in the kettle vs the normal basket design that most people use.

The bag is performing the false bottom job. However, you need something to keep the bag from getting sucked into the drain port. Either a dip tube or a physical barrier, like a false bottom. I used to use a 90 degree elbow but I use a SS steamer tray/stand now during mash recirc. I like how it creates a reservoir below the bag and helps to make sure the recirc is drawing wort from everywhere in the pot and not just sucking wort from a channel through the grain near the outlet.

Go to Amazon and search for "steamer rack".
