    Stout Faucets

I need 2. One stainless/chrome and one brass/gold (or the right parts to fix mine).

    Stressed yeast experiences? WLP001

I just brewed my usual blonde that I've brewed several times before and I'm getting strange smells at the height of primary fermentation. I've used WLP001 lots of times on several different beers, but never smelled anything like this. It's a sour, pungent, chemical smell. Kinda vinegary...

Efficiency drop with 6 row or flaked maize?

I brewed a cream ale yesterday and it's my first time brewing with an adjunct and my first time using 6-row. It was a very simple low gravity recipe. I always batch sparge using the double sparge method splitting my sparge water. I consistently get 69-70% efficiency. I noticed the end of the...

Special B in a coffee stout?

I've been planning a nitro coffee stout for over 6 months. When Sam Adams came out with one I noticed they use Special B. Never thought of that for a coffee stout. What would 2-3 oz (1-1.6%) do in a 5 gallon batch? Opinions?

    Lagering in the keg/headspace question

I just switched to lagering in the keg and I have a question. After transferring to the keg, I hooked up the CO2 and purged the keg a few times. Then I disconnected and put it in the fridge at 34 degrees. That was about 8 weeks ago. I just hooked CO2 back up to start carbonating. I noticed I...

Storing full sanke kegs at room temp

I keg in sanke kegs and have a question about storing at room temperature without a pressure release valve. Right now I don't brew more than I have room for, but I may have some overflow stacking up in the next few months that won't fit in the kegerator. Once the beer is kegged, can I hit it...

    Nottingham question

Couple questions. I brewed an English ale Monday night. I had less boil off than I expected but I still hit my predicted OG, so I don't have as much headspace as usual in my bucket. It was very well oxygenated. Pitched yeast dry around 68-70 degrees. Fermentation fridge set to 64. Fermentation...

2 Pin lock kegs swap for 1 1/6 barrel?

I have 18 pin lock kegs and a handful of connectors. I'm trying to swap to all 1/6 barrels. I'll trade 2 pin locks for one sixtel. Anybody? No shopping for now. I'm in north Louisiana but I'm headed to Dallas next week so I can meet up somewhere in between.

    Hop question...

My LHBS didn't have crystal hops so I ordered some. My recipe has 1 oz pellet hops added at flameout. I got my hops in and I learned I accidentally ordered whole hops. Since this is being added at flameout, is it the same or do I need to adjust? Would I be better off ordering some crystal...

NOLA Blonde Hops - Recipe help

I need some recipe help. I'm working on my first blonde ale. When I come up with a recipe, I always test several beers in the style, look at clone recipes, and then adjust to what I think I'm looking for. So... it seems Bombshell Blonde is pretty popular for a blonde. I tasted it back to...

Found cheap Igloo cube 48 qt

Heads up... I picked up a 48 qt Igloo Cube in solid white at Dick's Sporting Goods for $14.97 (regular $40). It doesn't have a drain but it had a recessed area where the drain goes and a depression in the floor leading to it. Just like this one except white...

    Emerson 16E09-101 Temp Control

Anybody use one of these? I got it free. It's huge compared to the Johnson A419 beside it.

    Carbing volumes question

I have a question about carbing volumes for the English Bitter I made. I see there are ways to determine line length based on pressure and temp, but what about inputting line length and temp to determine pressure? I'm about to keg this batch and want to carb and serve at around 1.8 volumes at...

Yet another mash tun size question

Here's my requirements/situation. I only started brewing to supply my home bar. It's a 2 tap kegerator built into my bar (many times I'll have commercial on one side). So... 1. I will never do more than a 5 gallon batch - it's just not practical for me. 2. Batch sparge. 3. Bazooka screen...

    Noob question about disconnects

I bought these pin lock disconnects... Do I need the little white washers? I bought a CO2 side jumper with a threaded pin lock disconnect. It was sent without one... Sorry for the noob question.

Too little grain for a PM?

Is 2lbs of grain too little for a partial mash? It's for a 5 gallon batch. 1 pound is specialty grain and the other is Maris Otter. The rest is 1.5 lbs of DME and 3.3 lbs of LME. I was planning on brewing this weekend and don't have a LHBS.

    Dented Post

One of my used Cornelius kegs has a post with a dent in the top. Apparently Coke still used it this way anyway. I haven't used the keg yet... Should I replace the post or are dents like this common on old corny kegs?

Please help me tweak a kit

I need a little help personalizing a mini mash kit that I got. It's an English Pale Ale kit made up of Maris otter LME and light DME. The specialty grains are caramel 60L and the hops are Kent Golding and Fuggle. I have on hand some nugget hops and plenty extra caramel 60L, but I don't mind...

Commercial keg and homebrew same fridge question...

I need a little advice on pressure and line balancing with multiple kegs - mixing 2 different types (commercial sixtel and a corny). My set up now is: CO2 and regulator outside the kegerator to a manifold inside the kegerator, split into 2 air lines to 2 commercial sixth barrels. My beer...
