Spike Conical- observations and best practices

Lets revive this. I'm two beers into this conical so far with the new system, a couple observations and hoping for some feedback. 1. Carbonation stone. While this is my only conical so far, my issue with the carbonation stone isn't so much of an issue, but I can see it becoming one if you're...

Will a long gas line have a large impact on CO2 pressure?

I'd like to run a gas line from my regulator in my basement to a secondary regulator that I'm going to mount next to my conical. The idea being that I can pressure transfer/carbonate without having to buy a second regulator. The secondary regulator would be cannibalized from my 4x secondary...

    BCS Not Connecting Issue

Hi All, Today was supposed to be my first brew day on my new EBrewsupply BCS 482 Unit. This morning, I was making some tweaks to the processes/stages, and then realized I had lost connection to the BCS. This happened when I was upstairs making adjustments (nothing to the IP/connection settings)...

    Pittsburgh/Western PA Group By #9+

How open are you guys to new buyers for the next round? We're pretty dry up here in Buffalo since the Syracuse grain buy has stopped. We could probably fill a half pallet at a minimum. Cheers, Marcus

New York For Sale: Convoluted Counterflow Chiller

I am parting ways with my counterflow chiller. I've used it a handful of times and it works really well, but I need am switching back to an immersion chiller. I originally purchased this: http://morebeer.com/products/chillus-convolutus-counterflow-wort-chiller.html However, I added 2 FPT...

    Buffalo NY group buy?

Awesome work Michael! I think there should be a precedent set so things don't get sloppy if this becomes a regular/bigger thing. Something similar to what the 'Cuse guys do but adapted for this situation: 1. All orders should be paid in advance of the order being placed. 2. Pickup should...

Pretty sure the buy would fill up in a couple days. I could go with at least 5.

I believe you need an account with GWKent. John had an account from working for Flying Bison at one point, I believe.

Over attenuation. Can I back sweeten with Malt Extract?

Hah, sure! I added maltodextrine to the kegs, but ended up staying on the bottom when I racked to the keg. Then I poured some out and most of the maltodextrine went into my pint glass.... ugh. I decided to oak it to try and take off some of the bite. At first it just tasted worse, so I said...

Why people use secondaries for dry hopping

The guy from stone said that if you have a large amount of yeast in suspension, it will reduce the effectiveness of your dry hops. So if you do dry hop in primary, it's a good idea to cold crash first.
