    New BIAB False Bottoms

Used this for the first time last weekend, worked great; as mentioned above, recirculation was great. I don't have to worry about the recirculation piece of the brew day any longer. I was using a regular false bottom but never got the recirculation flow I was looking for; I was getting about...

    New BIAB False Bottoms

This is great. Thank You! Let us know when the 3.5" lifts are available. I haven't seen them on your website, unless you've sold out already.

    multiple bags for 10g batch?

The first time I tried BIAB I used 3 paint strainer bags in a keggle for a 10gal batch, that worked just fine, no problems. I dunk sparged in my fermenter bucket, that also worked just fine. Multiple bags are kind of a pain to deal with but will work until you get a better bag solution. I did...

Help a brother out? Considering BIAB.

I've been using a 15gal for the last three years, mostly do 5 gal batches with the occasional 10 gal batch. 15 works well for both, as everyone else has said you just have to sparge with 3 or 4 gallons water when you do a 10 gallon batch. Would also agree you should have no problem getting...

Recirculate Mash without any supplementary heat.

Couple of things to consider; recirculating is also good for stabilizing the mash temp evenly at the beginning of the mash, depending on your manifold if you recirculate with your pump set wide open its easy to get a stuck mash. I do BIAB now so its no longer an issue for me, but when I was...

    Treatment of brewing water

Couple of things, There is a really good brewing water primer in the Brew Science section, great place to start. The words "brewing water" also means "mash water"; the PH you referenced is for the mash water with the grains. You may want to check out a spreadsheet like Bru'n Water which...

    Kent Quick Disconnects?

I've been using these on my boil keg and pump for a couple of years. Being plastic you have to be a little more careful with them than stainless. I found them by accident surfing the web and bought them directly from Kent Systems. I don't have any plans to change them out; they're working for me.

    First AG (BIAB) post-mortem

I would say this was a great first AG! But there are a few issues to improve on. You'll get lots of advice, here is my two cents... Regarding strike temp, its ok to have 160+ strike water, denaturing would take the grain temp to go over 160 for several minutes, just adding strike water that...

    Thermometer a problem?

You might want to get a thermometer to measure the mash inside the bag as well. I had that same setup for a while and I'd get a 2 - 4 degree difference between my "inside the bag" temp and my "outside the bag" temp, especially when it was colder outside. I ended up removing the thermo in the...

    Blichmann power module

I bought one just last month. As far as building, my research sounds similar to yours; using the cheapest parts I'd be around $325, using the same parts Blichmann uses I'd be around $425. To me it wasn't worth it to round up all the parts, put it together, and get it all working and...

Found my kettle! but how big?

Nice kettle. A 10 gallon kettle is great for 5 gallon BAIB batches, you won't have any problem making as big a beer as you want (10% - 15%.) If you ever want to brew 10 gallons you'll need the 15 gallon kettle. Not sure if this one works with induction, as long as a magnet sticks to it...

Blichmann Burner heat time - Am I doing it wrong?

This is a long shot, but you may push a wire through each hole just to make sure there isn't any sand that got stuck during casting. That's usually not a problem with Blichmann burners but its something to try.
