    Epoxy Garage Flooring

I am thinking about laying a Epoxy floor in my garage. I have a concrete floor that dose not have any major cracks but it soaks up any spilled wort like a sponge. Living in FL I worry about not laying it in decent humidity or heat. I have heard stories about the DIY kits peeling up or not drying...

    BJCP Tasting Exam

Hey Folks, I am taking my BJCP tasting exam in a couple of months. I’m reviewing all of the study guides online. Plus tasting as many commercial examples as I can find, and journaling them as I go. Anyone want to chime in on what helped them pass the tasting exam and what their tasting exam...

    Site Gauge Question

I am using a site gauge for the first time today. For a 5gal extract batch, is it better to start off with 5 gallons and top up during the boil? Or, is it better to anticipate the evaporation loss and put in 6 gallons and keep boiling till you hit the 5 gallon mark.

    weldless thermometer

I am looking at buying a new weldless thermometer for my keggel. Any suggestions, or at least products to stay away from? Looking to spend around $30-40. I have a nice sight glass from brewhardware.com and like their gear but kinda leaning towards blinchmans thermometer. Many thanks,

    Stuck at 1.035!!!

I ave a Amarillo pale ale in the fermenter now. Used WLP001 cal yeast and fermented at 70F. The original gravity was 1.060. I have stirred up the yeast cake and it has gone down a point or two but not much. I brewed on 7/13 and was planning on transferring into the secondary tomorrow, but maybe...

I will be brewing a oak aged bourbon stout next. What is everyone's thoughts on cubes vs spirals? Is there any preference on brands? Right now I'm thinking of a medium America spiral.

Is 10days too long for a yeast starter to pitch? O

I made a 2cup yeast starter on Tuesday 7/10 with a 1.040 gravity. I was planning on brewing tomorrow Friday 7/11. Turns out I can't brew on Friday and will have to wait till Thursday 7/19. Should this starter be okay? Or, should I make another later in the week? Is the better option to add...

    Carboy dryer

So random question... Does anyone feel like their plastic carboy dryer was worth the purchase? I don't have a problem with storage of my carboys so does it really dry any faster and is drying the carboy after using starsan really that important? I usually get as much out as I can and just pitch...

    Need a keg in Orlando

I have been trying to find a 15.5gal keg in Orlando both legally and ethically for a while now. I will be converting it into a boil kettle. Called the only real brewery in town and no luck getting a old busted one. Tried craigslist and no luck either. Any suggestions?

    Midwest Supply Amarillo kit.

I got a Amarillo pale ale kit from Midwest Supply. Has anyone tried it? Is good, bad or just another pale ale? I'm going all grain and wondering if I should tweak it a bit. I have not tried any of their kits before.

I'm thinking about getting a keggel for my next big brewing purchase. Is craigslist the only good place to find a old keg? How much is too much to spend?

Can my Carboy be too big?

I keep having a problem with stale paper towel tasting beer. I'm sure it's a oxygen problem. I usually ferment in a 6.5gallon carboy and fill it to about 4 or 4.5gallons of wort. I top off with burst of co2 and am always carful when using my auto siphon into a keg. Is the 6.5gal carboy to big...
