    Bottle Life

I have been putting a 6 pack away from each of the kits that I brew with the thought process of having a tasting party one day. I was talking to someone over the weekend and they said that too long can ruin the beer. What is the longest that my beer can sit in a bottle and still be good? Will...

    Cloudy and sweet

Good morning. I brewed an AK47 Pale mild from NB a couple weeks ago and bottled last night. I My OG was 1.032 and my FG was 1.003. Fermented for 2.5 weeks (instructions called for 2) at 68 degrees. When I bottled it last night, during the transfer I noticed that it was very cloudy in the...

    atc refreactometer reading

I just got a new atc tempature correcting refractometer with specific gravity. Callibrated to 1.000 sg with distilled water and took a reading of a cream ale that I am about to bottle. The sg 1.021. So I took a hydrometer reading to compare and that says 1.008. Am I doing something wrong?

    Pale ale sediment

I brewed an extract extra pale ale from nb. I bottled it and am letting it condition. Today I noticed lots of particles floating in every bottle and a bunch of white sediment on the bottom that looks fluffy. Anyone else ever see this?

    Secondary transfer container Question

Question about secondary containers. One does size matter? If I have a 6 gallon container can I only put 5 (or less on batch size) in without any ill effects or should I fill as much as I can. Second question, does it have to be a carboy or can it be a 6 gallon food grade bucket, like what...

    46 bottles

Just got done bottling my first ever batch. I ended up with only 46 bottles and that was by tilting the bottling bucket. I noticed when I siphoned that there was only about 4.5 gallons in the bottling bucket. Is that normal (after a couple hydrometer readings) and a little spillage when...

    Cleaning bottles.

I am looking for recommendations on what to use as a cleaner for the bottles that I've been collecting from drinking lots of six packs. I got most of the labels off and now I just want to give them a good cleaning before bottling day where I will sanitize and then bittle. This is my first batch...

    Saving sanitizor

Sorry if this has been repeated, couldn't do a good search on my phone. Can you save sanitizor solution? I'm transferring my first batch to a secondary on sunday and was planning on mixing the sanitizor solution in a five gallon carboy to sanitize that, but then I was going to pour that into a...
