Unfortunately I wasn't. I usually have a fairly full schedule and decided to hang out with my family on that day I had free. When's the next meeting!?
I really do want to make it out to one. I'm a busy boy. Ha.
To brew or to brew? THAT is the question.
Another thought I had is I took my reading with like 72 degree wort instead of 68 like my hydrometer is calibrated for. I realize that won't make up the .020 lost but is my reading slightly off because of that? Would it be lower or higher at the true testing temp?
Yes at 154. I splashed the wort at the end of the mash when I was pulling the bag out so I lost the good stuff. I'd say definitely less then a quart. Probably more like a pint.
Another thought I was having is I ended up with 4 gallons of wort or so and I added water to the fermenter to make up...
I have done 2 all grain 1 gallon batches that turned out pretty tasty (didn't have a hydrometer then) now I just did my first 5 gal BIAB following this recipe.

I did add a bit more hops for personal preference at the last 30 mins of the boil...

I'm an Auto Mechanic.
I prefer to keep brewing as a hobby seeing as working on cars professionally for the last 9 years has somewhat killed that hobby for me.
I have a 30gt SS steamer/stock pot I use. I just add cold water into the fermenter to make up the difference. I make 5gal at a time. Pretty simple. I use the BIAB method and the steamer basket helps to lift out the grain bags for sparging!
It came with the pot so why not use it?
Taking my lifted Subaru on trails it shouldn't be on. Shooting. Building projects (setting up a ferm chamber for example) going to see great music of all types. Oh and of course actually drinking beer! I think that's a hobby ya?
Hi! My name is Dan I currently live in Tacoma, WA. I had just got done brewing my 3rd all grain 1 gallon batch. My father in law got tired of of only receiving a sip instead of a proper few bottle sample so for Christmas he got me a 5 gal kit from a LHBS. I am beyond excited to start up a...
