Yeah the first one was brand new and so was the 2nd. They just didn’t get cleaned properly. Worked with support again and this time they physically checked the part before sending so should have a good one soon. I cleaned this one with a green scrubby and it looks good now, going to treat it...
So I bought a new ss anvil brew bucket and when taking it apart the transfer/dip tube looked like it had rust at the weld area. So I contacted support and they sent me a new one. They sent the wrong part, they quickly sent me the correct one. I check the same spot as the other to make sure it...
So to keep bag off the bottom of kettle a false bottom would resolve that but at point a tripod hop spider would be less to clean and cheaper but I could see the bag cleaning being a annoying and buying replacement bags when needed.
I really like the idea of the clip on hop spiders but that...
Ok so I get there is all types of options for dealing with hop filtering.
The top things I see are
1. No filtering just whirlpool some left over junk could be good, but if using a valve/tubing it could get clogged. Possibly more kettle cleaning needed.
2. Stainless steel hop spider basket...
Anyone know of a cheap fermentation chamber for the anvil stainless steel fermenter bucket?
I know I can convert a freezer easy enough but I would prefer more of the mini fridge/wine fridge style for various reasons but given the size of the fermenter I wasn’t sure if anyone has found one that...
I’ll start using it, thanks. Yeah I know o can’t use liquid disconnects on a gas post, was just curious if the inside parts of a liquid and gas disconnect are the same or not as when I pulled all my stuff out of storage I just cleaned and parts broken down in the same container and didn’t know...
I haven’t been but there is normally a little star San on it. I’ll start using the keg lube.
I found a bunch of o-rings I forgot I had and after swapping it’s working fine now, must have just been a bad o-ring from the start. But good point about the lube
I got a couple new torpedo kegs and on at least one liquid side o ring is getting ripped up from putting the disconnect on and off. I’ll have to check the other one once it’s empty. The disconnect is pretty hard to put on for some reason. Any one else have problems with the standard black...
Yeah there are a number of reason why I prefer closed transfer using co2. It might not be that bad to use 2 kegs for this but it is an extra item to clean so may end up getting the anvil ss bucket so I only have 1 fermenter and 1 to clean and no splitting. Or might just go with 4 gallon batches...
Mostly just a preference. I like doing closed transfers and prefer stainless steel. I keg every thing and transferring to serving keg or secondary without exposing to air is nice, plus it’s easier and don’t have to mess with a siphon
Thanks. Yeah I was thinking about doing 4 gallon batches but until I learn more in general I was planning on buying kits for a little bit and then move into buying bulk grain and following recipes online and most kits are 5 gallon. Have a hard time just not using a gallon which leads to the...
I am working on getting my stuff set back up since I stopped brewing many years ago
Currently for fermenting I am going to be using 5gal corny kegs. So if I do a 5 gallon batch I will need to split it between 2 kegs for the headspace.
For yeast should I buy an extra pack of dry yeast so...
