    Autolysis using WLP665?

Good to hear, especially since I was considering tossing it for a while. Thanks for the help!

    Autolysis using WLP665?

I brewed a Flanders Red a bit over a year ago, made a starter using only WLP665. The primary fermentation took off, enough where I had to place a blow-off tube. Now back when I brewed this I didn't have much knowledge about autolysis. Which means I brewed it, threw it in a glass carboy and...

DIY Stirplate using a broken Gamecube

Ha, by taking the Gamecube apart I meant grabbing a flathead screwdriver and a hammer, rather than buying a tool to remove the screws used to hold it together. The sticky note is for reference of the size of the fan. It appears the fan is DC, I'm assuming I can splice the wires and attach...

DIY Stirplate using a broken Gamecube

So as I was attempting to relive some of my childhood and play a few Gamecube games when I found out it no longer worked. Instead of just tossing it I decided to try and be resourceful and take it apart for pieces to use on a homemade stirplate. My questions are, the fan is only about 2x2...

    Really Old Chest Freezer

You guys were right it was only for the light. I was able to take apart the lid and unplug where it connected to the light. I've just gotta figure out how to detach it down where the compressor is. Thanks for the help!

    Really Old Chest Freezer

I just picked up a really old 13' Kenmore chest freezer and it works well. My issue is I want to build a collar for it, but there is a wire attaching the lid to the body of the freezer. I can't imagine it does anything but power the light on the lid? Does anyone know if my hunch is right...

Good Bars / Food in Orlando area

In Tampa I would also recommend checking out Mr. Dunderbach's. Its suppose to be a traditional german restaurant with a bunch of german food, 55 beers on tap and 400 bottles.

    Is this Wrong, or what?

I completely agree with getting an auto siphon but a racking cane can be used as a siphon also, its just a PITA to deal with. For the bucket just get a lid for it and now your buddy has two fermenters.

    Interesting failure. Please help?

Like Bobbin said gravity readings would help a lot, but it sounds like what you think, about the yeast having crapped out. Which would explain why the carbonation isn't really forming in the bottles. Anything over 1.070(or so) gravity I would recommend 2 packs of yeast or a starter. If it was a...

    Gushers

I'm slightly disappointed this thread isn't about gushers gummy candy lol. Anyways I agree with that guy, try weighing it out. Ideally an ounce/per gallon ratio is what you want. So 3/4 a cup for 4 gallons is too much and could result in gushers, not the gummies.

    Whiskey in the lock?

To keep it a little cheaper I use half booze half water. Congrats on her first brew!

Can't lager, got a dopplebock recipe

I like wee heavys but Idk if I'd like 5 gallons worth. I do like the idea of changing around the recipe tho. haha tempting, the shipping of the ingredients might not be too bad but the return ship is where it might get me, lol. Honestly it's nice for a little bit, but the constant humidity...

Can't lager, got a dopplebock recipe

Funny enough I've got a kolsch yeast in my fridge right now, so I wouldn't be too against doing half a batch with that and the other half with wlp013 or so. Currently its a chilling 81 degrees outside lol. The swamp cooler method is what I currently use for my ales. House temp is low 70s and...

Can I save half a pack of dry yeast...?

I don't see why not if you're sanitary with the whole process. But why not make another one gallon batch and avoid dealing with the whole issue. There's also the argument of what's 2-4 bucks being tossed. I'd say either make some other 1 gallon experiment or do what you originally wanted to do.

Can't lager, got a dopplebock recipe

Long story short I ended up with the grains that were suppose to be for a dopplebock. As I mentioned in the title I currently don't have the ability to lager, here is the grain bill: 11.25# German Munich 2.5# 2-row 1.25# Caramunich 1# Melanoidin .25# Carafa III Currently I'm...
