Thanks for the update. Great news but at the same time sad news knowing that contaminated plastic equipment can't be saved but you can still use it for something else.
Not sure what 2 1/2 is but whatever it is, using a hydrometer you need two readings to calculate the alcohol content: one before and one after fermentation.
If you used the amount of hops that was prescribed for 6lb dme and 1lb honey, it's going to be more bitter, first because you'll have less residual(unfermented) sugar and second because of the slightly better hop utilization during the boil.
6lb dme and 1lb honey would have given you an og of...
Thanks, what you're saying makes perfect sense, but why would you want to use a fixed amount of water with variable amounts of grains? Doesn't anyone want the maximum efficiency?
I would highly recommend that too, unless you know that you make good beer every time, but even then I would taste it myself first before serving it to someone else.
Oh well, advices are asked only not to be followed anyways.
I don't get this. So the less grains you use the greater the efficiency is?
It seems that the graph is saying that with no grains you'll get 100% efficiency.:drunk:
Enlight me, please!
