I'm sorry its no help but I have 11 kegs and I've never had a problem with any of them leaking from the disconnect. I have had leaks from loose flare fittings. The only thing I can recommend it to try some keg lube and fresh o-rings(which you apparently did.)

Both those malts are husk-less. I assume they have their mill optimized for 2-row barley. In the future you could request that they double mill your wheat and rye. I bet regular base malts look fine.
I have owned alot of both better bottles and Vintage shop PET carboys. I much prefer the vintage shop ones. The bottoms are much stiffer and the sides don't have ribs that yeast flocks onto. I have had 2 BB that have cracked on the bottom and leaked wort. VS is much stronger and the bottoms...
My buddy has the same one for turkeys and crayfish. I inspected it when he bought it and it would work well as a brewing vessel. I would not hesitate to get it at that price.
