Yea I didn't mean the brewers term of mash haha that's my bad. My next question would be how much would I use for a 5 gallon batch?

I see some people saying stuff about getting an internal temp besides just the thermometer on the carboy because the temp on the inside can be different. Something to stay...

I've had my beer fermenting for 72 hours now, I'm getting great activity through the air lock. My concern is there's only about a half inch of krausen. Am I stressing out over nothing?

I just brewed my first batch and I'm wondering how long do I wait til the CO2 starts coming through the airlock? And I've already got like almost 2 inches of sludge is this normal?
