    240 wiring question

Thanks for the reply, it sounds like I should be good to go. I didn't choose to install the 4-3, it's what was already installed in the house by a prior owner. At least I don't have to worry about re-running the wire. I plan on a GFCI breaker in the panel.

    240 wiring question

I know which sub panel this comes from so I can open it up and verify which conductors are hot and which is neutral. I may pop a GFCI breaker in there while I am at it. I’ve got a 240v Blichmann boil coil. I picked up the G2 15 gallon pot with installed boil coil and an electric tower of...

    240 wiring question

My garage has a 50 amp three prong outlet installed by the previous owner for a welder. Looking at the cable it is marked 4-3 NM. It has red, black and white insulated conductors that appear to be 4 gauge plus a bare ground of smaller size, maybe 8 gauge. Can I wire a 4 prong outlet with that...

    Hello from Colorado

Since you are in Castle Rock you should look up the Rock Hoppers home brew club. We meet the second Thursday of every month. You'll learn a lot at the meetings and get to sample other home brews.

Getting two beers out of one mash

I did a 1.125 imperial stout, 35 pounds of grain for a 6 gallon batch. I also did a small stout by sparging another 7.5 gallons of water on the grain bed. I did add about 10 ounces of DME to the small stout but it still came out about 5% and tasty.

    Late addition hops only batch

I've brewed this recipe twice and it has scored me a couple 38s and 39s in comps. I brewed it as-is except I used a small bittering charge of magnum (.25 ounce) at 60 minutes to bump up the IBUs. I like to turn off the burner at 0 minutes and use the immersion chiller to bring the wort down to...

    Deep Rock for Brew?

If it's the Deep Rock here in Colorado it comes from an 800 foot deep well in Denver. My well water is similar, high in carbonates (pH 8+). It's a little low on calcium and around 50 ppm sodium. It's fine for brewing although I do adjust pH in the mash sometimes. Lately I've mostly been...
