Triclad exists for a reason right?
Correct me if I am wrong but I have never seen an aluminum pot with SS added to the bottom, but rather aluminum added to SS.
I don't know what that means, just wanted to see if I could stir it up again.
If cost is a major motivating factor I would consider BIAB. I have a Blonde recipe that uses 8 lbs of 2row, .5 of C15 and 1.5 oz of cascade. Buying in bulk (not by the sack) but $59 worth of stuff from morebeer.com to get free shipping and hops from NIKOBREW'S sales that blonde cost me about $13...
The book Experimental Brewing http://www.experimentalbrew.com/about speaks a lot about tinctures. I have not read the whole book yet but it may even take about meat, good book so far. I got the Kindle version for like $3. great read for the money.
Anyone mention fermcap?
I started BIAB with a 8 gallon kettle. (using fermcap) The kettle was closer to 9 tho. I had to sparge to reach volume and stood over boil to make sure but fermcap worked very well.
BIAB is almost too easy. I keep thinking about moving to a 3 tier system, but I cant...
I just stumbled into this thread and read (most of it)
Looked at every pic though ;-)
I am currently over seas, but when I return stateside in the fall I will most def break out the welder and make one.
One question that might be answered in the vids, Why are the holes not predrilled? I...
I too have noticed that my stouts take longer to carb up. Interested to read what others think about the more sugar need / not need.
I don't like highly carbed beers so I don't mind the level of carbonation per se but wonder about the time it takes. Maltier beers are better undercarbed than...
I am sure you will get a ton of conflicting answers so I will add what I have read, quick and rolled are the same, but "quick" has been "rolled" thinner.
Don't listen to any of the above. Those bottles suck and are a danger to you and you family.
You seem like a nice guy and I wouldn't want you harmed.
Please send them to me and I will make sure you don't get hurt,
You are welcome.
I would like to add, if anyone else has any, you can...
I too have captured wild yeast with this sites help. I have not been adventurous enough to brew with it yet. I did a few step up starters but never pitched it into anything other than DME. I keep saying soon...........but it still sits in a mason jar in the fridge.
I need to do this. Sometimes I forget to write down the brew date, much less anything else. I blame success. If it all goes well I don't care. When I have an issue or someone asks a question, I have no idea. I think I will remember but I NEVER do.
I really need to take better notes.
I think I might have turned down the temp on the inkbird to 64. But from what you guys are saying that's still A little high. My chamber is a joke, basically cardboard and Styrofoam. It holds 68 pretty good. and I have done at least 50 beers thru it with 05...
Please, I know you should wait 3 weeks before you drink a bottled homebrew.
Buuuuttt. I never do. I always have one @ a week and almost always dive right in to the rest by week two. Never an issue.
I recently brewed what I am calling Febtoberfest, but its a AIH Octoberfest...
