    Stupid Easy

Just switched to BIAB instead of my 10 gallon igloo cooler - I must say, this is stupid easy. I wish I would have switched earlier. - First time - Nailed temp (151) - Lost maybe 1 or 2 degrees, thermometer showed 149 and 150 - Cleanup is already done - Didn't really add that much...

    Yeast viability

I have been wanting to try this yeast FOREVER. From what I've read, it's just like White Labs California Ale Yeast (WLP 001) except it is more fruity - which sounds even better IMO. :rockin:

    Yeast viability

Well I went ahead and pitched the White Labs California V in the starter. I might wait for two days, not sure yet. Possibly just wait 20 hours.

    Yeast viability

Jim, thanks for the tip. I can brew 48 hours from now. Silly question again, just put it in the fridge, pour off the water and pitch the "slurry"?

    Yeast viability

Ladies and Gentlemen, I have a vial of White Labs California Ale Yeast V WLP 051 with a best by date of 14 March 2014. Is this okay to pitch to a beer with a 1.070? I'm making a starter on a stir plate, about 1.75 cups of DME and 1.6 liters of water, it'll go for about 20 hours before I...

    Muntons yeast

Well, I surfed around and turns out the RGB is actually the code for the yeast bank, a English Ale yeast. I guess I should probably go to Muntons and submit a question to them.

    Hefeweizen Flavor Issues

Just recently bottled a hefeweizen and I thought the same thing. After 2 weeks though, it has a pretty good balance of banana/clove. I fermented at 64-66 as well, also using the White Labs 300. Mine was an all grain batch, don't think that will make a difference from the yeast output of flavor...

floating scum formed after pitching too much yeast

Don't worry, you are fine. The scum I assume is krausen and is nothing to worry about it. It will fall to the bottom soon.

    Muntons yeast

Greetings, I have a quick question, I recently bought some Muntons kits to brew, and I took the yeast out and put in the fridge. Now I'm not sure if these kits use the same yeast or if its any different. I.E. I have 3 packets of yeast and each of them say something different. See the...

    Lagered my IPA

Not sure why the temps rose. I changed it now to where I have the temp probe wrapped around a towel inside the freezer.

    Lagered my IPA

It was a high OG...didn't get a reading yet on FG. Just got back yesterday and I checked the temp and corrected it, now I'm just waiting until I bottle. It did ferment, I had a blow out - so I KNOW it fermented. It only blew out a little. Now i Have the temp probe wrapped in a towel l ike...

    Lagered my IPA

Ladies and Gentlemen, Here is my latest brewing blunder: Normal IPA. Went on vacation and used my fermentation chamber (freezer with J&J Temp control unit). Now i had done a batch before and I tweaked it to get it to 66-68. So I went back on vacation to see my family and low and behold I left...

    New Fermentation Chamber

Thank you for the response! I have the plastic thermometers on my brew buckets, should I just monitor for that? I really can't wait to try this bad boy out. Thank you for the responses!

    New Fermentation Chamber

Ladies and Gentlemen, I just got a new fermentation chamber. It is a 7 cubic feet freezer from Lowe's. Anyways, I was hoping you could pass on some tips to me. Like what should I set my thermometer to - Right now its at 66, but there is a 4 degree drop before it kicks in to cool off. So I set...
