    2009 Dechutes Jubelale

I did one last fall (also about to repeat it) and I felt like it was really close. Used one of the recipes in this thread I think with some adjustments/substitutions. Hope yours turns out. I'm about ready for the winter beers. Amount Item Type % or IBU 11.00 lb Pale Malt (2 Row) US...

    2009 Dechutes Jubelale

@Oswegan, how did your recipe turn out last year? Wanting to get a clone of Jubelale going soon and wondering which of these recipes to use. Like many of you guys on here, used to live in PDX and have great memories of this beer. No chance of getting in here in Alabama, so I'm going to brew...

Bottle carbonation issues after 3 weeks

This is what I love about HBT. I just bottled my first Quad and after two weeks opened a bottle and there was nothing. Almost freaked out, but then thought to check here. As always, I wasn't alone. Thanks guys.

    Alabama Homebrew Legalization

Wow. Looks like I stirred the pot somehow. Totally didn't mean to. First. Not saying that I want to tell anybody how to spend their money. Pretty sure we won't be getting any bingo in my neighborhood. But if you want to play bingo, have at it. If you are on welfare (aka spending my...

    favorite yeast for a stout?

Just now drinking my Oatmeal Stout and it's one of my best. Used White Labs British Ale 005.

    Alabama Homebrew Legalization

Yeah, that a was a major blow for homebrew in Alabama last night. Even so, no way I can bring myself to vote for Sparks. While I do enjoy my homebrew and will continue brewing with or without reform, I don't really want a bingo hall on every corner. That's what you'll get with Sparks.

    Mini keg carbination

Just did two of these and used 1.5 tablespoons and the Rye IPA turned out perfect. I was shooting for the feel of cask ale and in my case I feel like 1.5 hit it on the nose.

First time using Mini Kegs (a thank you)

@Stagger: I'm just over the mountain in Homewood. I picked up the minikegs from Kim over at AlaBrew. His new location on Cahaba Valley is really convenient to my office over in Riverchase. @HB99: For sure, I've seen you post in probably 100 different mini-keg threads. Probably the...

First time using Mini Kegs (a thank you)

I recently brewed a Rye IPA for a good friends going away party and decided that instead of bottling the entire batch, I'd use a couple of 5L mini kegs and bottle the rest in 22 oz bottles. Between the forums here and some advice from my LHBS, I don't think it could have went any better. Big...

    Alabama Trip

Wow, eGurney you definitely missed out. Maybe next time. Jersh, glad you enjoyed the suggestions. Can't go wrong with that combo. (Just saw the bit about Big Bob's white sauce. Actually started in Decatur. Grew up on that stuff, and still make it at home today. Now I'm hungry.)

    Alabama Trip

As far as Bham goes... +1 on J Clyde. Will have the best selection, especially of the newly available higher gravity beers. I'm also partial to On Tap, Lakeview or the Galleria. Good beer selection and decent food (wings, etc). If you want BBQ, I'd head downtown to Dreamland for lunch...

    Birmingham Alabama checking in.

Welcome. Live in Homewood and work down in Riverchase. I hear we may have a certain local homebrew shop moving to the Pelham/Riverchase area. Good news for us.

    Bottling sucks!

Just upgraded my capper to one of the Super Agata models. Have a whole new outlook on bottling. Cruised through a couple of cases last weekend. Not a single break, chip or difficult cap. The old Red Baron was just stressing me out.

    Capping Emergency (Alabama Brewers)

Homewood (Birmingham) here. Cool to see this gaining steam. Contacting my rep now. I'm definitely in on the party when this thing finally closes.
